Run 748

The last run of the season was, as always, a mass start. Many thanks to Nada for running very early and then returning to take on the timekeeping duties before heading off to the ballet with family.

I will not post the results of this run until after the overall winner of the season has been announced early in the new year.

There was no run between Christmas and New Year, so our next run will be on Saturday, January 3, with the timer starting at 7:30 am.

We are always happy to welcome new runners and walkers. Running distances of 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 km are available, with a handicapped start on all runs of 3 km or more. Walkers usually complete either a 2 km unhandicapped walk or a 3 km walk with a handicap start.

The main aim of our group is to have fun. We use a handicap system so that most runners finish at roughly the same time after the 30 minute mark. Any runner finishing before 30 minutes is considered to be breaking. Points are awarded based on finishing position each week, and each runner’s best ten scores for the season are added together to determine their season total.

The winner of the season receives the Rob and Jodi Clark perpetual trophy. The winner and runner-up also receive a medal to keep and a small prize. We ask for a gold coin donation each week to help cover prize costs.

I hope to see plenty of people at the starting line in the new year. We meet at the rotunda near the lizard sculpture in Stiggants Reserve.
