Run 419

It was a cold morning (about 3 degrees) that saw 13 starters in the run this morning. Thanks to Nada for running (through the dog slalom) early and doing the time keeping this week.

Cormick started out on the longer distance, but had to stop after 2 km. He had the quickest 2 km time this morning, followed by Alice and Louanna. In the longer distances, it was Mark over the line first in a beautifully timed run, earning him maximum points this week. Next was Daniel, closely followed by Atsuko. Nada and Kieran were breathing down their necks. Tessa managed sixth spot today ahead of Peter and Paul. Matthew, Jacinta and Jon rounded out the field today.

There were two personal best times recorded today. Well run to:
Marc, who took another 24 seconds off his previous PB,
and Alice who took 22 seconds off her best time.

Daniel was the only other person to run within 15 seconds of their PB today.

Next week the run will be on Sunday 3 June at 7:30 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during he season.

The random number drawn this week was 9 so the sock go to Matthew.

Run 418

There were 17 starters in the run along the banks of the Yarra River this week. We welcomed a new runner to the group, Rachel, and hope to see her running again. Thanks to Jacinta for running early and doing the timing for us.

Jacinta was the only runner to take on the shorter, 2 km, course this week. In the longer, handicapped, distances two people managed to come in before the 30 minute mark and were considered breakers this week, Daniel and Mark. That left the win for this week open to Matthew in a very nicely timed run. He was just ahead of Nada and Atsuko who were only six seconds apart. Rachel and Henry were the next over the line after their handicaps were added to their run times, and Jozica was just behind them.Renee, Robert and Elizabeth all started from scratch and needed to have their handicap times added on as well, placing them in 7th to 9th positions respectively. Peter, Jon, Steve and Tessa rounded out the field this week.

There were three Personal Best times recorded this week. Well run to the:
Daniel, who managed to take 2 minutes and 7 seconds off his previous 4 km PB,
Mark, who took another 1 minute and 6 seconds off his best time,
and Matthew, who reduced his PB by another 26 seconds.

One other person managed to get within 15 seconds of their PB:
well run Atsuko.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 26 May at 7:30 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

This week's random number was 17 meaning that Jacinta picks up the socks.

Run 417

There were 10 people out for the run along the banks of the Yarra this morning. Thanks to Jozica for doing the timing this morning.

First over the line this morning was Matthew, followed by Randall but they had both run too quickly today and have come in before the 30 minute mark and so could not be awarded maximum points. That left Tessa as the winner of today's event, followed by Atsuko only 5 seconds behind her. Nada named in third place followed by Paul and then Daniel in his first run at 4km. Peter and Jacinta rounded out the field for the longer distances today. Mark walked this morning over the 2 km distance.

There were three personal best times run today:
Atsuko beat her previous PB by 22 seconds,
Randall beat his previous best 4 km time by 1 minute and 29 seconds,
and Matthew took a whopping 3 minutes and 48 seconds off his previous 4 km best time.

No-one else was within 15 seconds of their PB.

We also had the presentations for last season this morning.

Congratulations to our junior runners:
Winner - Daniel (and fourth overall)
Runner up - Elizabeth

And in the overall section:
Winner - Atsuko (120 points from 12 runs)
Runner up - Randall (116 points from 14 runs)

Thanks to everyone for coming along and running each week.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 19 May at 7:30am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

The lucky number for the socks draw this week was 8 - so congratulations to Peter.

Run 416

It was a chilly morning that saw 19 starters in the run along the Yarra today for the first run of the new season. Welcome to Matthew who ran for the first time with us this morning. Thanks to Peter for coming along to do the time keeping this week. Several people chose to run new distances and at different times to their handicap, so Peter was kept on his toes for the starting. It also meant that there were quite a few groups coming in close together and the final times were also tricky to manage, but he did a great job.

After the handicaps had been added in to runs and adjustments made Robert ends up being the first over the line, but he had run too quickly coming in nearly a minute before the 30 minute mark and breaking this week. That left the win to Atsuko in another great run. Matthew, Randall and Mark all ran the 4 km distance together for the first time this week and so ended up on 31 minutes in second place. Dennis was only one second behind them, and Daniel was six seconds back. Cormick, Henry and Kieran were in another group coming in within ten seconds of each other, and just ahead of Jozica. Catherine was next over the line, followed by Paul, Louanna and Tessa within 7 seconds. Amelia and Monica rounded out the field for the longer runs. Only one person took on the shorter 2 km distance this morning - well run Harrison.

There was only one personal best time recorded this morning:
well run Robert.

And one person was within 15 seconds of their PB:
Congratulations to Atsuko.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 12 May at 7:30 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

The lucky number for the socks draw this week was 11 - so congratulations to Jozica.
