Warrandyte River Runners is a friendly, social run.

For $1 a run ($0.50 for kids) we will record your time and allocate you a handicap for the next week's run.  The results are published here on the blog each week.

The handicap system means that anyone is able to win regardless of how fast they run.  The goal is to be the first to cross the line after the 30 minute mark without 'breaking'.  Breaking is when you cross the line before 30 minutes.

There are 4 distances to choose from: 2km, 3km, 4km or 5km.  However the 2km run is not handicapped and no places are allocated.

Points are allocated to each runner based on where they place and if they ran a personal best time, or even within 15 seconds of their personal best time.  (See the Points tab for further details).

Also, a pair of socks is given away every week via a random draw.

There are 3 seasons a year and at the end of each season a perpetual trophy is awarded to the person with the most points.  The key to winning the trophy is turning up regularly, running consistently and even trying to improve a bit each week.

There is no obligation to turn up every week - just come when you can.

A perpetual trophy is also awarded to the child with the most points for the season.

So come and give it a go.  What's the worst that could happen?  You might even enjoy yourself.
