Run 533

A damp morning saw six starters in the run along the banks of the Yarra this morning. The drizzle didn't stop some good times being recorded, though. Thanks to an injured Nada who came along to do the timekeeping duties this week.

First over the line this morning was Jozica, who unfortunately was running too fast and came in before the 30 minute mark and "breaking" this week. That left the win open for Atsuko in a nicely timed run. Monica managed to secure second place ahead of Paul and Jon. Jacinta walked the 3 km distance today and was the final person home.

There was one Personal Best time recorded this week:
Jozica took a full 46 seconds off her previous 5 km best time.

One other runner managed to run within 15 seconds of their PB:
Well run Monica.

As has been our tradition, there will not be a run on Easter weekend, so our next scheduled run is for Saturday 10 April at 7:30 am.

We awarded the trophy and prizes for last year's seasons today, realising that we had not given these awards out at any stage last year:
  • In season 31 at the start of 2020, the winner with 74 points from 8 runs including 3 wins was Monica, and the runner up with 67 points from 10 runs including 2 wins was Nada.
  • We combined seasons 32 and 33 as there were only a total of nine runs between the two seasons and the aggregate winner with 106 points from 7 runs (including 5 wins out of the 9 runs!) was Monica, with the runner up with 56 points from 9 runs (with 1 win) was Nada.

We also acknowledged Atsuko reaching 250 runs with the group a few weeks ago. Incredible running - keep up the good work, Atsu.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 532

There were 7 starters in this week's run along the banks of the Yarra. Thanks to Nada for running early and doing the timing for us today.

In the 2 km distance, Margaret was the only runner. In the longer distances we went back to most people being sent off at their handicap times. Jon was the winner this week in a very close finish with Tony. Monica managed third place ahead of Paul with Nada in fifth position and Jacinta the last over the line.

There were tow personal best times recorded this week:
Jon took 18 seconds off his previous PB, and
Tony continues to improve taking another 41 seconds off his best time.

Next week the run will be Saturday 27 March at 7:30 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage throughout the season.

Run 531

There were six starters in the run along the banks of the Yarra in the muggy conditions this morning. Paul came along to do the timekeeping duties.

Jacinta was the only person to take on the 2 km distance this week.

In the longer distances once the handicaps had been accounted for, it was Jon who took out the win this week. He was followed by Monica and Tony only three seconds apart and Nada ten seconds behind them. James was the final runner over the line today.

No-one managed to run a PB time this week, but two people were within 15 seconds of their best times: well run Monica and Tony.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 20 March at 7:30 am and we will go back to sending people off at their handicap times again. People running or walking the 2 km distance will be set off at 7:30 when the clock starts.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 530

The Sunday of the long weekend saw five starters in the run or walk along the banks of the Yarra this week. There was a new runner to the group and we would like to take this opportunity to welcome Dave and hope to see him at more runs in the future. Thanks to Nada for completing the run early and doing the timekeeping duties this week.

Nobody took the opportunity to walk or run the 2 km distance this week.

In the longer, handicapped, distances it was Tony who came in first after the 30 minute mark once the handicaps had been added. He was only seconds ahead of Jon, with Dave taking out third spot this week. Atsuko ran well into fourth position and Nada was the last person over the line.

Only one person managed to run faster than their previous Personal Best time: well run again to Tony, taking 15 seconds off his previous best. No-one else was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Next week the run will be on Saturday morning 13 March at 7:30 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.
