Run 466

It was a cold morning today that saw 14 starters in the run along the Yarra. Thanks to Nada for running early and doing the timekeeping today. As it was the last run of the season, we had a "mass start" at 7:30 and then handicaps were added on to times afterwards. Unfortunately Richard was not feeling well and did not finish today.

In the shorter distances, Margaret was first over the line followed by Mark. In the longer distances, Randall was first over the line,  but ran too quickly and came in before the 30 minute mark, as did Cormick who was next to finish. This means they were both classed as breaking this week. First place was taken out today by Alice, and the first five place-getters were all within a 20 second margin - great running to everyone. Second place was Peter ahead of James and Paul, with Monica in fifth place. Kieran ran well into sixth place ahead of Nada, Rachel and Jacinta.

There were two personal best times recorded today.
Not surprisingly they were:
Randall who beat his previous PB by 43 seconds, and
Cormick who was 47 seconds ahead of his previous best time.

No-one else was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Next week the run will be on Sunday 4 May at 7:30 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Runs 464 and 465

It has been a couple of weeks since I managed to put together a blog post and mail out, so here goes:

Run 464

There were eight starters for the run on the middle weekend of the school holidays and we welcomed Tony for his first run with the group.

Alicia was the first over the line after the 30 minute mark today, followed by Randall and Peter. Nada ran well into fourth place. Steve, Kieran and Cormick rounded out the field in the longer distances today. Tony was the only person to run the 2 km course.

There were two personal best times recorded today:
Alicia took 1 second off her previous 4 km best, and
Randall took another 6 seconds of his previous PB time.

One other runner ran within 15 seconds of their PB:
Well run Peter.

Run 465

There were only six runners for the event this week, thanks to Peter for running early and doing the time-keeping this week.

First over the line once the handicaps had been added in was Nada. Peter managed to be two seconds ahead of Paul. Atsuko was in fourth position and Jacinta rounded out the field for the longer runs. Margaret was the only runner to complete the 2 km distance.

There we're no personal best times recorded this week and no-one was within 15 seconds of their PB.

This week the run will be on Saturday 27 April. As it is the last run for the season we will have the traditional "mass start" with everyone leaving at about 7:30 am, so please make sure you are there for the start.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 463

It was a cool morning which saw 12 competitors starting out after an extra hour's sleep with the change over of daylight savings time. It was great to see Richard back for his second run. Thanks to Nada for running early and then doing the time-keeping.

In the 2 km distance, Margaret continues to make inroads into her time, and Mark and Rachel walked together. In the longer distances, the pace was very quick and saw three people break, coming in before the 30 minute mark. First over the line today was Peter, followed closely by Paul and Randall. That left the win open for Richard. Nada managed second place ahead of Matthew. Atsuko ran another 6 km distance today and managed fourth place. Jozica and Jacinta rounded out the field today.

Four people ran personal best times for their chosen distances this morning:
Randall took 31 seconds off his previous PB,
Paul was 34 seconds faster than his previous best,
Peter took 42 seconds off his PB, and
Richard managed to run 52 seconds faster than his previous time.

One other person was within 15 seconds of their PB:
Well done Mark.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 13 April at 7:30 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.
