Run 163 and Presentations

It was great to see such a large number turn out today not only for the run but also for the presentations of season 10 winners.

Marianne took out top honours with 123 points (very nicely done) for season 10. She was closely followed by Atsuko picking up second place and averaging 10 points for the 10 runs. That is a very amazing effort by both as they showed us guys how it is done.

With that in mind we had to turn to our ever consistent junior Owen K to represent the guys turning up each week. He took out the junior award closely followed by a new starter with the group who this week actually competed in the 4k event. Well done to our juniors for their efforts last season. They all took away medals and chocolates with perpetual trophies for the winners and a bottle of plonk for the adults. (I hope you enjoy).

It was a nice start to the day this morning with a few comments that it wasn't as cold as we expected. This meant that yours truly broke after a few days recovery, which left the winners circle open for Nada, Jon and Owen K placing in that order for the top 3 positions. They were closely followed by Atsuko who I still can't get over the fact she was laughing after pushing me through a sprint in the first 1500m of the run.

Nada was very close to a PB as she cruised to a win. Well done to a nicely timed run. As the second person across the line you also take out the socks for the week.

It was also nice to see Jodi putting in a guest appearance and helping with the presentations. Thanks

A big thanks also to Marianne and Lincoln for assisting with the time keeping.

There was 1 PB and 2 within 15 secs this week:

New runners welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 162

With such a large contingent heading off for the 2k this week everyone else felt a little left out so it was agreed to conduct a mass start from the 5 minute mark.

This meant that anything can happen as you are unsure who exactly is ahead of you when the times are adjusted.

Showing us once again how it is done was Atsuko, easily cruising to her second victory of the season. She was closely followed by Owen K who was only 2 seconds behind. Well done.

It is also good to see Dennis back and increasing to the 5k. We weren't sure whether we may have introduced a team event as Dennis and Peter crossed the line and Paul and Owen K also crossed in such close proximity. This was obviously before the adjustments.

It was a lot warmer this week and a great morning to start with a run down by the river.

There was fast times this week:
PBs:
Within 15 seconds:
Next week the run is on Saturday 25th May 2013 at 7:30am
New runners welcome at any stage during the season.

Run161

We are 2 runs into the season and Atsuko has taken out a win and a break to gain some very valuable points at the start of the season. Not to be out done Owen K has had a win this week which places him right up there in second place overall. Owen is closely followed by the ever consistent Nada.
The weather was a little cool on the weekend but that didn't deter a good field getting out for run.
Well done everyone and I will see you on Saturday.
Thanks to Doug and Steve for timekeeping this week.
