Run 194 (Summer Season 13)

Even though it is Xmas there were still a number of starters around to kick off the commencement of the new season. If you didn't make it down don't let the early wins put you off as it is only your best 10 runs that are taken into consideration.

A few people mentioned they were happy to be out after all the pavlova, trifle and Christmas puddings and I fully agree. All that carb loading didn't worry our first 3 across the line, though. Paul took out the first win of the season with Atsuko and Alex rounding out the top 3. This was a nice mild run before the temperature rose later in the day.

Great effort everyone and hope to see you again next year. There is no market so the run will be on Saturday.

Next run is Saturday 4 January 2014 at 7:00am.

Run 193 Season 12 final

There was a little humidity this morning impacting a few finishing times. Well done for everyone as the consistency points table lead was well and truly up for grabs by a number of takers.

It was a mass start and I am sure a few are wondering who won. I won't make you wait to the new year.

Margaret ran a PB this morning not only to take out the win for the morning but to take out the overall season. Great work. She was followed by Paul and then Nada.

From a season point of view the following runners took out this season 12's awards:
First Adult - Margaret
Second Adult - Nada & Caitlin

First Child - Caitlin
Second Child - Owen C

Well done to everyone and thank you for a fun season. We will be running between Xmas and New Year if you are interested.

Have a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year if I do not see you before hand.

PB
Margaret - 20 Seconds

Next run is Saturday 28 December 2013 at 7:00am.

Run 192 and Xmas Breakfast

Well Xmas is closing in and so is the end of the season. We thought Nada may have had her second season in a row stitched up, however this week saw a perfectly timed win by Caitlin to shoot her up to equal points on the ladder. Well done Caitlin.

We had our largest field in a while covering all distances, which was great to see. We are also still seeing PBs tumble as well. Paul was unfortunate to break by the barest of margins, however this allowed Caitlin to pick up maximum points. She was closely followed by Jozica and myself after the adjustment of time.

For the 2ker's Eilish and Nicole continue to make it hard for the timekeeper to split and this week Jarrah and Jon followed suit.

Thanks Alex for timekeeping this week. You did a great job and welcome to do it again at anytime if you would like.

Well done everyone and I hope to see you all for the mass start this Sunday. The last of the season and still anyone's call as to who will win. Caitlin, Nada, Margaret or Jon could easily take out the honours.

I hope everyone had a great breakfast at the Warrandyte Cafe.

PBs this week:
Jon - 1 minute 28 seconds
Jarrah - 1 minute 27 seconds
Caitlin - 17 seconds
Jozica - 9 seconds
Owen C - 1 second.

Nicole was within 15 seconds.

The next run is on Sunday 22 December 2013 at 7:30am due to the markets on Saturday.

Run 191

Well I have had to check the stopwatch twice now, with the same results, everything is spot on. I can only put this weeks results down to a few things. The biggest is the winter training everyone has been doing. The next is I found out from Alex that this was his 2nd 4k run and his first one was done slowly as he didn't want a big handicap, so give him heaps next week. The last is I am aware that Paul had been running the 3k distance as a recovery run from injury so this explains his break even though he said he was going out slow.

Caitlin and Jozica on the other hand have come out and ripped the course up with blitzing times to finish under the 30 minute mark, leaving Margaret to take out the top points for the day. Not to forget Jarrah producing another PB to blitz the 2k course.

I thought it was the stopwatch so I ran hard over the distance, thinking that I could get a PB if the stopwatch was wrong. I also timed this on the watch. Unfortunately I still couldn't produce the results of everyone else today.

Well done and see you all next Sunday.

PBs
Alex - 3 minutes 17 seconds
Jon - 1 minute 50 seconds
Jarrah - 1 minutes 48 seconds
Jozica - 1 minute 1 second
Caitlin - 59 seconds
Margaret - 2 seconds

Great work everyone.

The next run will be Sunday 15 December 2013 at 7:15am.

All new runners and walkers are welcome to join us.

Run 190

Alex was the last out of the gates and didn't he set the cat among the pigeons. There were so many breaks and PB's I had to check that the stopwatch was working. Sure enough it was.

This week saw Eilish and Nicole sprint to the finish. It was so close I wasn't able to separate them. This provided a new PB for Nicole in her second run with us. Well done.

From a 3k and above perspective Jon broke with a huge PB and this was even after his win last week and additional handicap. He was closely followed by Alex and Nada who also produced PBs and finished under the 30 minute mark.

Leaving the options open for first place, Caitlin produced a stunning performance to take the win this week and maximum points. She was closely followed by Margaret.

Great work everyone. It was a lovely start to a great weekend.

PBs
Jon - 1 minute 2 seconds
Alex - 56 seconds
Caitlin - 16 seconds
Nada - 11 seconds
Nicole - 10 seconds

The next run will be on Sunday 8 December 2013 at 7:30pm due to this being market weekend.

All new walkers and runners are welcome to join.
