Run 346

It was a glorious morning down by the river and there were 13 starters for the run this morning. Someone had forgotten to bring down the time sheet, so we had a mass start today. Next week will also be a mass start for the end of the season, so please be down at the starting line by 7:00 am.

After adding in the handicaps for this week, it was another win for Monica (her second this season), coming in with 14 seconds to spare. Jacinta ran well into second place and then Atsuko who was only 1 second ahead of Niels. Jozica and Emma were within 10 seconds of each other in 5th and 6th places respectively. Another group of runners was behind them in Dennis, Steve, Tessa, James and Alicia and Peter rounded out the field in the longer distances this morning. Caitlyn took her dog, Saga, for a leisurely stroll around the 2 km course.

There was one person who managed a personal best time for their distance this morning:
Well done Monica who beat her previous PB by 16 seconds.

No-one else was within 15 second of their PB.

Next week is the FINAL run for the season and will be a MASS START at 7:00 am on Saturday 31 December.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during he season.

Run 345

There were nine runners by the river this morning running the 3, 4 and 5 km courses with Paul doing the timing this week.

Amelia was the first runner home, but was just bit too quick and missed the 30 minute mark by six seconds and therefore has broken again this week. That left the way for Monica to come in for a perfectly timed run, winning this week by arriving at 30:05. Peter tried hard to catch her but was held off for second place.

Dennis ran well to be ahead of Atsuko, with Jozica nipping at her heels. Tessa and Jacinta rounded out the runners this week.

There was one person who ran a personal best time for their distance this week:
Well done Amelia for beating your previous PB by 36 seconds.

One other person was within 15 seconds of their PB:
Well run Monica.

Next week is the SECOND LAST run of the season and will be on Saturday 24 December at 7:00 am. We will also be running on Saturday 31 December for anyone who is around and that will be our final run this season (and therefore a mass start).

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 344

It was another lovely morning and we had 11 starters with people running or walking each of the distances: 2, 3, 4 and 5 km. Thanks to Monica for doing the timing this morning.

Paul was the only person walking and jogging the 2 km course this morning. In the main event, the first person over the line was Amelia, but she had run too fast this morning and came in before the magical 30 minute mark and so can't be awarded maximum points. After the 30 minute mark, the person in first place today was Jozica who had just a seven second lead on Peter, with Jacinta only a second behind him.

Further back in the field were Tessa and Atsuko, a little ahead of Alicia. Steve, Harrison and Jon all came in within ten seconds of each other to round out the runners this morning.

There was only one personal best time recorded this morning:
no surprises that it was Amelia, who beat her previous PB by 1 minute and 20 seconds.

No-one else was within 15 seconds of their personal best time.

Next week the run will be on SUNDAY 18 December at 7:30 am as there is a Christmas market on Saturday.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 343

It was a lovely Sunday morning for a run along the Yarra and heaps of people thought it was great for a walk with dogs as well. It made the run a bit more challenging to be dodging around everyone, but 11 people came down for the run.

Taking on the 2 km course were Margaret and Jacinta running and Paul (with two dogs) walking. Margaret continues to cut time off her run every week.

In the main event people were running 3, 4 and 5 km. Atsuko had a perfectly timed run coming in just one second after the 30 minute mark, Amelia ran very well into second position and Nada just held off Monica for third place. Jozica was only seconds behind them, and Peter, Tessa and Jon rounded out the field.

Only one runner was able to beat their previous personal best time at the distance they ran this morning:
well done to Amelia who beat her previous 3 km record by 57 seconds.

No-one else was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 10 December at 7:00 am, but we will be back to Sunday the following week due to the Christmas Market.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Our Christmas dinner will be on Thursday 8 December at the Warrandyte Pub at 7:30 pm. Please RSVP to Joz if you can come so she can book a table - just a text saying how many will be there (0424 652 115).

Run 342

It was another lovely morning for a run along the baks of the Yarra in Warrandyte, and this morning saw 11 people out running over all distances: 2, 3, 4 and 5 km.

In the 2 km run, Amelia ran this distance for the first time and ran well and Margaret continues to improve on her times from week to week.

For the longer distances, there was a close finish for the first position with Angela just beating Jacinta home by 1 second and Jozica was only ten seconds behind them. Nada and Atsuko were only separated by four seconds to come in fourth and fifth respectively, with Monica not far behind them. Peter ran early and did the timing for us this week (thanks for that) and his time brought him in seventh position. Tessa and Harrison rounded out the field from the longer distances.

There was only one person who managed to run a personal best time for their distance today:
Congratulations to Angela who took another 11 seconds off her previous best for 3 km.

Two others came within 15 seconds of their PB:
well done to Nada and Jacinta.

Remember that only your best ten runs from any season can count towards your Consistency Total for that season, so some people have already reached that limit and their scores will now be updated only if their score for this week is one of their best ten scores. The maximum score for any single run is 20 points, so the field is still open at the moment.

Next week the run will be on Sunday 4 December at 7:30 am as it is a market weekend.

Please visit the Facebook page and let us know if you can come to the end-of-year celebrations.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 341

There were 10 finishers in the run by the river this weekend, and we welcomed Dane for his first run with us. Hopefully we will see him for another run n the future.

Margaret ran the 2 km course again, and continues to run consistently over this distance. In the "main" event Nada was first over the line after the 30 minute mark and has won this week with maximum points - well done. Jacinta was second over and just ahead of Dane (after his handicap was adjusted for being his first run). Angela and Jozica were within 10 seconds of each other in fourth and fifth positions. Peter continues to run well at the 4 km distance and came in just ahead of Will, Tessa and Harrison.

There was one personal best time this week:
congratulations to Nada who has taken another second off her previous PB.

No-one else was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 26 November at 7:00 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

First over the line this morning was Angela, followed very closely by Atsuko and Nada. Tessa and Peter were next and again very close together with Jacinta being the last runner in. Margaret ran the 2 km course again this morning and cottons to improve her times over this distance.

Thanks to Nada for keeping the times this morning.

No-one managed to beat their personal best times this week and no-one was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 19 November at 7:00am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Runs 337 and 338

Sorry I didn't get to post last week so this post is about the last two runs:

Run 337 saw 11 people out on the track by the river running the 3, 4 and 5 km courses. Monica was first over the line, but ran too quickly, finishing before the 30 minute mark and breaking this week. In first position was Atsuko, coming in just ahead of Jacinta and Nada. Imogen was in fourth position, just 10 seconds behind. Jon and Charlie ran in well for the next positions. Jozica and Tessa were just ahead of Harrison and Peter took out the final place.

There were two personal best times recorded this week:
Monica beat her previous 3 km best time by 52 seconds,
and Imogen beat her previous best by an amazing 2 minutes and 4 seconds - well done.

No-one else was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Run 338 was run on the "long weekend" before Melbourne Cup Day, and had only seven starters. Amelia was running way to fast this week and came in well before the 30 minute mark. Jacinta also broke this week. That left Nada to take out the first place for this week, with Monica only just behind her. Peter was the final runner on the longer distances this week. Margaret ran well over the 2 km course and Paul walked 2 km as well.

There were two personal best times recorded again this week:
Amelia took a whopping 1 minute and 39 seconds off her previous best,
and Jacinta took 3 seconds off her previous best time.
Well done to both of you.

No-one else was within 15 seconds of their PB this week.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage through the season.

Next week the run will be on SUNDAY at 7:30am, and we look forward to seeing lots of runners at the pergola near the lizard below Stiggants Reserve.

Run 336

It was great to see 18 starters for the run along the river on Saturday to run and/or walk 2, 3, 4 or 5 km distances. Thanks to Monica for taking the times this week.

We had two new faces to the group: Imogen and Charlie. It was great to see you there for the weekend and we hope to see you again soon. Margaret and Paul took off to run/walk the 2 km course and Margaret continues to improve on her times each week - great work.

In the main event, Helen came in well before the allocated 30 minutes was up and so is a breaker this week. It was a struggle to keep up with everybody coming in very close together, but the winner turned out to be Jozica in an almost perfectly timed run, finishing at 30 minutes and 2 seconds. Caitlyn continues to run well, coming in second place just ahead of Nada, with Jacinta and Jon close behind.

Imogen on the 3 km course (I will fix the details below) and Charlie on the 4 km course (as first timers) were allocated a finish time of 31 minutes and ended up in 6th position, just seconds ahead of James. Steve was next, ahead of Harrison and Atsuko. Peter, Alicia, Tessa and Catherine rounded out the field.

There were two people who ran their personal best time for the distance today:
Helen beat her previous time by 4 minutes and 38 seconds (wow!),
and Caitlyn who beat her previous best by 10 seconds.

and two were within 15 seconds of their PB:
Jozica and Nada - well done.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any time during the season.

Our next run will be on Saturday 22 October at 7:00 am.

Run 335

There were 16 starters for the run today in beautiful conditions along the Yarra. It really is great to see so many people down for the run, including five kids this morning. Welcome to Will who ran his first 3km run with us this morning, we hope to see you at River Runners again, soon.

The first across the line after handicaps were adjusted (a few people seemed to struggle to get out of bed for the earlier start time of 7:00am for daylight savings) was Caitlyn who again came in under the 30 minute mark and was considered a breaker this morning, Harrison, the birthday boy, also broke this morning. Just after 30 minutes there was a flurry of people crossing the line, making it difficult for the timekeeper, but the honours went to Tessa this morning with a well timed run, only seconds ahead of Angela.

Nada was third over the line with Monica hot on her heels. Will's time brought him in next just ahead of Jozica, James and Jacinta who were within 7 seconds of each other. Peter just held off Alicia, with Steve, Jon and Atsuko rounding out the finishers of the longer distances.

Margaret was the only runner on the 2km course this morning and she continues to reduce her times over this distance. Good work, Margaret.

There were three Personal Best times recorded this morning:
Angela beat her previous best time by 1 second,
Harrison beat his time from last week by 1 minute and 33 seconds, and
Caitlyn continues to improve her times, taking a whopping 2 minutes and 47 seconds off her previous PB.

Two people came within 15 seconds of the PB:
well done to Monica and Tessa.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 15 October at 7:00am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 334

It was a lovely morning for a run along the banks of the Yarra and we were lucky enough to see a wombat run across the path just down from the start/finish line right before we started the clock this morning.

There were 11 starters for the run this morning with people running each of the distances on offer: 2, 3, 4 and 5 km.

With a few adjustments for handicaps at the end of the race the results were very close this morning. Margaret and Ed had taken off from scratch to run the 2 km course, and both ran very well with Margaret cutting a minute iff her time from last week.

In the main competition Catilyn continued to improve her times and came in well before the 30 minute mark and so broke this morning. There was a group who all ran in just after 30 minutes, and they were led across the line by Peter who took out the win. He was followed very closely by Monica and Amelia who took out equal second place, and Angela ran in just behind them.

Harrison stepped up to the 4 km course for the first time this week and has achieved a time just ahead of Nada. Jacinta and Atsuko rounded out the field for today.

There were four personal best times recorded this morning. Congratulations to:
Angela, who beat her previous best time by 1 second,
Monica and Amelia, who both managed a 35 second increase on their PB, and
Caitlyn, who took a massive 2 minutes and 35 seconds off her previous time.

No-one else was within 15 seconds of the PB.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 8 October at 7:00am.

Run 333

There were 10 starters for the run this morning, with people running and walking all distances today. Margaret was back and completed the 2km course with Paul.

Caitlyn was first over the line this morning once handicaps had been added, but unfortunately she came in before the 30 minute mark and so missed out on maximum points. First over the line after the 30 minutes was Lisa, who was running well and came in just ahead on Nada.

Peter was less than 10 seconds ahead of Dennis and Jacinta was just behind them. Harrison and Tessa rounded out the field today.

There was only one person who managed to beat their personal best time this morning:
Well done Caitlyn who beat her previous 3km PB by 3 minutes and 24 seconds - great running.

No-one else was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Next week the run will be on Sunday 2 October and will be at 7:30am.

There were 11 starters running 3, 4 and 5 km distances this morning. We welcomed new runner Erin who started off with a 3 km run with Caitlyn.

Alicia took off like a rocket this morning and was running beautifully and quickly, resulting in her coming in first over the line, but before the magical 30 minute mark and that left the win to Jacinta for this week. Nada ran in well into second place just ahead of James. Caitlyn and Erin were awarded equal fourth place in their first 3 km runs.

There was a sprint finish on between Peter and Tessa, with Peter just managing to come home first. Atsuko, Dennis and Jozica rounded out the final placings for today.

Nada beat her previous PB by 4 seconds,
and Alicia beat her previous best by 7 seconds.

Run 331

The rain held off for the 12 starters to run or walk over all distances this week: 2, 3, 4 and 5km. It was great to see Emma back and running 4km this run. Thanks to Nada for running early and doing the timing for us again - it really is appreciated. Steve is recovering from injury and so took the option of the 2km walk this week.

After adjustments in handicaps, the results are as follows: The first over the line after the 30 minute mark this week was Tessa, only 4 seconds ahead of Monica with James and Jozica close on their heels. Angela ran very well over the 3km course to come in fifth place and Nada's time put her in only 3 seconds behind. Emma ran her first 4km distance and came in next, just ahead of Jacinta. Paul and Atsuko were the last runners over the line today.

There was one person who ran a Personal Best time over their distance this week:
Well done Monica for taking 43 seconds off your previous 4km best time.

Run 330

Season 17 is all done and dusted and the results will be announced at the run next weekend and then put up online after that.

There were 13 starters for the run on Fathers' Day. Hope that all of the fathers in the group had a great day!

After adjustments to handicaps for people starting at different times, Jacinta was the first one over the line, followed by Angela but they were both under the 30 minute mark and so were designated as breaking. That left the first place position open for Nada and Monica and Amelia were just ahead of Harrison and James, with Paul just behind him.Jozica and Tessa came in ahead of Peter and Steve with Atsu bringing up the rear after running with Harrison.

There was one Personal Best time recorded this week:

well done Angela on taking off 4 minutes and 18 seconds from your previous best.

Two others were within 15 seconds of their PB:

Run 328

There were 12 starters for this mornings run, and we welcome Helen and Angela to the list of competitors. Hopefully we will see you down by the river again!

After a few adjustments for handicaps with some people taking off early, it was great to see that first over the line this morning was Harrison who ran the 3 km course and continues to run very well. Nada has been constant all season and managed a second place this morning. Angela, in her first run, was given a handicap time that brought her in for third place overall, just ahead of Tessa and Jozica.

Dennis ran well into sixth place just ahead of new runner, Helen. Steve and Atsuko only ended up 3 seconds apart and Jon was only 6 seconds behind them. Jacinta and Peter were the final runners to cross the line.

There was only one person with a personal best time over their chosen distance this morning:
congratulations to Harrison who has taken another 23 seconds off his PB for the 3 km course. Keep up the good work!

No-one else was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Because there were more than 10 runners, there was a random number drawn and the 7th runner across the line wins a pair of sicks this week. Congratulations Helen.

Next week the run will be the final run for this season and so will be a mass start - everyone will begin at 7:30 am on Saturday 27 August. Please make sure you are there on time so we can start.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Nada is planning on running 50 km next week on Saturday 27 August. She will be starting with her usual 5 km at the river with us, then will keep going to the trail at Beasley's nursery, and continuing on until about Bourke Road. She will then turn back and finish back at Beasley's. A number of people have suggested that they would like to run some part(s) of the way with her, or meet her at the finish line. If you are interested in helping her out on the day, please let us know and we will see how we can help to coordinate people's requests. GOOD LUCK for the run, Nada!!

Run 327

9 runners started out this week on the 3, 4 and 5km courses and there were some great times this week. Thanks ti Steve for running early and doing the timings this week.

After adjustments had been made for handicaps, Harrison was the first over the line this week, but he was well under the magical 30 minute mark and so was considered a break. Jon, too, managed to come in before the 30 minute mark and also broke this week.

That left Jacinta to take out the line honours this week, with Nada only 10 seconds behind her. There was a bit of a gap to the next runners in Tessa and Monica. Dennis and Steve came in within 7 seconds of each other and Atsuko was last over the line.

There were two personal best times recorded this week with Jon beating his previous 4 km best time by 2 minutes and 24 seconds,
and Harrison beating his previous 3 km best time by a whopping 4 minutes 27 seconds.

Nada was the only other person within 15 seconds of their personal best.

Great running to all of you.

Run 325

With only six starters this week, it was another time for some easy points.

The times this week were a little slower than we have seen recently. Harrison was back again and ran with his Mum and Amy (the dog). Since it was his first run at the longer distance, he managed to get a win and maximum points for the week. Nada continues to run well, running in to second place this week.Tessa and Jon finished within ten seconds of each other and Jacinta was not very far behind. Atsuko had the slowest time this week, after her time was adjusted when she started early.

There were no Personal Best times recorded for the week and no-one was within 15 seconds of their PB.

The run next week will be on SUNDAY 7 August due to the Market being on Saturday. As usual we will run at 7:30 am.

No socks this week as there were not more than ten runners.

Run 324

It was a bit chilly down by the river this morning for the weekly run along the banks of the Yarra, but seven people started out to run 2, 3, 4 or 5 km. A big "Thank you" to Atsuko for coming down to do the timing even though she didn't run this morning and welcome back to Harrison.

Nada took off quickly and no-one was able to catch her this morning, eventually running in to first place coming in just after the 30 minute mark for maximum points. Paul started running 5 km, but stopped at the 3 km mark and his time put him in second place this morning. James continues to run strongly and came in third today, just ahead of Jozica, with Tessa and Jacinta finishing out the field in the major competition. Harrison ran the 2 km course.

There were two Personal Best times recorded this morning:
Well done to Harrison who took 2:22 off his previous best 2 km time, and
Nada took a further 4 seconds off her PB over the 5 km course.

No-one else was within 15 seconds of their PB.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

The next run will be on Saturday 30 July at 7:30 am.

Runs 322 and 323

Hi all,

Sorry I didn't get the chance to update the details last week, so here are two weeks worth of results:

Run 322

It was great to see 11 starters for the run this morning with people out running the 2, 3, 4 and 5 km courses and quite a few out fast!

First over the line was Jon, who came in just before the 30 minute mark and just ahead of Atsuko who also broke this morning. That left the winning spot to James to be the first over the line after 30 minutes. He narrowly beat Nada home with Paul coming in next, having to put on a burst of speed at the end to avoid Jozica overtaking him. Alicia was next home after running the 4 km course and Jacinta was only ten seconds behind her. Steve and Tessa were within 1 second of each other at the end of the field.

Thanks again to Peter, who ran his 2 km distance early so that he could do the timings for us again this morning. It is very much appreciated.

The consistency results are looking very close, now, with James and Nada on equal points in the lead. Congratulations to Tessa on your 50th run with the River Runners. Keep up the good work.

There was one Personal Best time recorded this morning, with James taking 7 seconds off his previous 5 km best time. Well done.

One other person ran within 15 seconds of their PB. Congratulations to Jon.

Since their were more than 10 people, there was a random draw for a pair of socks, and the socks this week went to Atsuko.

Run 323

There were 9 people competing for points in today's run, and with 6 people coming in in under 31:30 it was quite a close finish. People are starting to hit the 10 run mark for the season, so it is worth noting again that only your best 10 runs can count towards your consistency total for the season.

James had a perfectly timed run, bringing him in just after the magical 30 minute mark and earning him maximum points for this week. Tessa blitzed the 4 km course this week coming in second place, narrowly ahead of Nada. Atsuko raced past Paul in the final section of the course, coming in 4th and Paul was not too far behind, holding off a concerted effort by Jozica just behind him. Steve was next over the line, just holding out Peter and Jacinta.

Thanks again go to Peter for doing the timing this morning and we hope that you have a great trip.

There was one Personal best time for this week. Congratulations to James, who has taken another 25 seconds off his PB.

One other person was within 15 seconds of their PB, well done Nada!

The run next week will be on Saturday 23 July at 7:30 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Monday, July 4, 2016

Run 321

With only four starters this morning there was the opportunity to pick up lots of points for this run. Because there were so few people, we decided to all take off together instead of using the handicaps, and Peter had run early and did the timings for today's run - thanks.

Nada was running well and took was very hard to catch, resulting in her winning today's run. Her second win for the season and putting her within two points of Jozica. It looks like it might be a tight competition this season.

Peter had run out fast again over the 3 km track and managed a second place, running a little quicker than Paul over the 5 km distance who came in third place. Jacinta ran the 4 km track this morning and was last over the finish line.

Well done to all.

The next run will be on Saturday 9 July at 7:30 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 320

It was quite fresh out this morning, but felt quite nice once you got started on the run. Nine people braved the chill to run 3 or 5 km this morning.

First over the line was Paul, just after the 30 minute mark, to get his first win for the season. Running in to the finish line, he could definitely hear Atsuko breathing down his neck only a few seconds behind him. Third place went to James who continues to run consistently over the longer distance. Lisa and Nada were next in within 10 seconds of each other. Peter, Tessa, Jon and Jacinta were the last over the line today.

There was no-one with a Personal Best time this morning, but James was within 15 seconds of his PB.

Next week the run will be on SUNDAY 3 July at 7:30 am due to the market on Saturday.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 319

A couple of people needed to take off early for other commitments, so their handicaps needed adjustments with the end result being:

Nada timed her run beautifully to come in first position just after the 30 minute mark for her first win of the season. Paul managed to just come in ahead of Atsuko for second and third placings. Tessa, over the 4 km distance took out fourth place with Alicia, Jon and Jacinta rounding out the 7 starters for this week.

Thanks to Steve for coming down to help out with the timing this week.

No personal best times were recorded and no-one was within 15 seconds of their PB.

The run next week will be on Saturday 25 June at 7:30 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 318

It was a bit chilly but fine for a run along the river this morning. There were nine starters with Steve taking the times this morning - thanks.

First across the line this morning was Paul, but having gone out quickly he came in under the 30 minute mark and broke. That left maximum points this week to Jozica who was first over the line after 30 minutes, with Atsuko not far behind. Tessa and Peter came home strong together, but Tessa was able to run away at the end. James was not far behind them, and Jacinta walked the 3 km course again this morning while recovering from a cold.

There was only one personal best time recorded this morning:
Well done Jozica for taking 17 seconds off your previous PB (from last week).

No-one was within 15 seconds.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 18 June at 7:30am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 317

At least the rain held off for the run this morning and nine people took to the track by the Yarra to run 3, 4 or 5 km.

Peter arrived early and ran 3 km so that he could look after the timings for the main contingent this morning, so thanks for that. A few people were feeling a bit under the weather and so ran or walked shorter distances than usual.

The results for the day were: Jozica only ran 3 km and came in before the 30 minute mark, James again improved on his previous times and managed to be the first over the line after the 30 minute mark, just holding off Nada who ran into second place. Paul was not too far back but just couldn't catch up to them to come in 3rd, with Alicia not too far behind him.

Atsuko was able to run 5 km again (not having to run off to kids sports on a Sunday) and came in next position, with Tessa, Peter and Jacinta (who walked her 3 km this morning) making up the final places in the run this morning.

There appears to be some competition at the lead of the consistency table for this season, with Jozica and James leading the field.

There were two personal best times recorded this morning:
James beat his previous PB by 29 seconds,
and Jozica beat her previous 3 km PB by 37 seconds.

No-one else was within 15 seconds of their PB.

New runners and/or walkers of any ability are welcome at any stage during the season.

Our next run will be on Saturday 11 June at 7:30 am.

Run 316

It was great to see James back for his second run on this cold morning. It was a very chilly start, but we soon warmed up as ten starters completed the 3, 4 and 5 km courses.

It was a very close finish today with 5 runners finishing within a minute. The first over the line was Jozica who blitzed the 5 km course today. She was followed, not too far behind, by James (and Atsuko on the same finishing time after starting early to fit in kids sports) with Nada and Paul close behind.

Jacinta was next over the line after completing the 4 km course, followed by Jon and Steve with Tessa and Peter bringing up the rear. Great work, Peter, on your first "run" back, and thanks for doing the timing for us again this morning.

There were three personal best times this morning:
Jozica beat her previous 5 km best time by 25 seconds,
James beat last week's time by 24 seconds and
Atsuko beat her previous best 3 km time by 21 seconds.

Congratulations to you all.

No-one else was within 15 seconds of their personal best.

Next week the run will be on SUNDAY at 7:30 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 315

There were nine starters for the run in the chill of the morning today and we thank Peter for coming along to be time-keeper for us in the cold. We welcomed first-timer James who ran the 5 km course this morning. Several people had to go early, and so there was quite a bit of handicap adjusting before the winners could be determined.

Jozica ended up finishing first this morning, just taking out the honours ahead of Atsuko. James ran into third position with Nada and Steve close behind him. Paul ran the 4 km course and came in 6th ahead of Jon. Lisa and Jacinta took it easy over the 3 km course this morning.

There was only one person who achieved their personal best for the distance run this morning:
well done to Atsuko who took 11 seconds off her previous best time over 3 km.

No-one else was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Our next run will be on Saturday 28 May at 7:30 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 314

It was a lovely morning for a run along the Yarra with 9 starters for this morning's event.

Jozica didn't make it - maybe after too much celebrating for her birthday yesterday (Happy Birthday Joz).

Jon and Paul took off at their 5 km handicap time but only ran the 3km distance this morning, so their handicaps were adjusted accordingly. After adjustment, Jon managed to record a break coming in before the 30 minute mark and being the "first" over the line. Jacinta was the official winner this morning, being the first person after the 30 minute mark. She was only seconds ahead of Atsuko, who overtook Nada coming in to the finish line - a very close finish all around.

Steve's time managed to beat Tessa by just 1 second, and Alicia and Paul were the final runners over the line after adjustments.

Pete was back for a 2 km walk this morning and did the timing for us - thanks very much for that.

There was one Personal Best time recorded this morning:
Jon took 2 minutes off his previous 3 km best time.

No-one else was within 15 seconds of their personal best.

We presented the trophies, medals and prizes for Season 19. Congratulations to our winners and runners-up.

In the kids section, the winner was Tessa with 35 points from 12 runs, and second place was Alicia with 27 points from 6 runs.

In the open section, the winner was Nada with 115 points from 15 runs with 5 wins for the season, and the runner up was Steve with 80 points from 12 runs with 2 wins during the season.

Remember only your best 10 runs can count towards your season points.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any time during the season.

Our next run is on next Saturday 21 May at 7:30 am.

All runs are starting at the winter time of 7:30 am now - both Saturday and Sunday.

Run 313

With only five runners this morning there was a big opportunity to gain points in the first run of the new season.

Jozica was out fast and ran well to come in well under the 30 minute mark this week and so broke. The first over the line after 30 minutes was Tessa running the 3km course. Nada and Jacinta were quite close together and Paul switched from the 5km course to walking the 3km course when his knee started to give him pain so he ended up in the last position this week.

Even with her more than 30 second break, Jozica was still not within 15 seconds of her PB.

No-one else beat their personal best or was within 15 seconds of their PB.

New walkers and/or runners are welcome at any stage during the season.

The next run will be on Saturday 14 May at 7:30 am.

Run 312

I wasn't sure if I should stick with the tradition of not updating the results after the last run of the season, but have figured that it doesn't make any difference this time, so here goes:

We had nine runners starting this morning and we all began together as has been the case for the last run of each season. After adjustments were made for the handicaps we should have run off, Jacinta managed to come in under the 30 minute mark, while Alicia was the first to finish after 30 minutes. Paul managed to come in second by only 1 second and Atsuko was only 16 seconds behind him.

Nada was a very close 4th and Steve, Jon, Peter and Tessa rounded out the field today.

Well run everyone over the last season. Our scores all begin anew next week.

There was one Personal Best time recorded this week:
Jacinta beat her previous 3km best time by

No-one else was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Next week the run will be on SUNDAY 8 May at 7:30am.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL RUNS (BOTH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY) WILL BE AT 7:30am DURING THE WINTER SEASON.

Run 311

It was a beautiful morning for a run or a walk along the banks of the Yarra River this morning and 8 people came down to join us.

We welcomed Angus who came along this morning and walked the 2km course with Cath and Leanne (and Maple and Honey).

Jacinta was once again running he 5km course and she took off like a rocket, no-one was able to come anywhere near her but she did finish well before the designated 30 minute mark and so didn't pick up full points. That honour went to Nada who ran very well, coming in first with a personal best time and earning the maximum 20 points to secure her spot on the top of the leaderboard for this season. With only one run to go, there is no chance of anyone overtaking her now!

Tessa and Alicia ran the 4km comfortably to finish next, but Alicia had her handicap adjusted and was relegated to fifth place overall. Paul was not very far behind the two girls having run the 5km course.

There were two personal best times today:
Nada beat her previous best time by 3 seconds, and
Jacinta beat her previous best by a massive 1 minute and 51 seconds - great running!

No-one else was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Our next run will be on Saturday 30 April at 7:00am and is the last run of this season. As is usual for our last run it will be a mass start, so everyone needs to be there by 7:00 please.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Runs 309 and 310

Run 309

There were 8 starters in the run this weekend, and it was Jon who came out on top, coming in first place just 5 seconds ahead of Steve. Nada ran well into third place. The first three runners all completed the 5 km course.

The rest of the field ran the 3 km course, and Peter managed to just beat Jacinta over the line. Lisa was not too far behind and Paul and Ed had set out for a slow run and came in at the back of the field.

No one ran a personal best time over their distance and no one was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Run 310

There were 7 starters this morning over three different distances and it was great to see Sam back running the 3 km course. Nada managed to be first over the line, narrowly beating out Steve. Jacinta had stepped up to the 5 km course and ran very well into third place, just ahead of Sam. Peter, Jon and Tessa rounded out the field for the day.

No one ran a personal best time and no one was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Next week will be the second last run of the current season, and the top of the leader board is still not completely settled. Remember that only the best 10 runs for the season are counted towards your consistency points.

The run will be on Saturday 23 April at 7:00 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 308

With many of the regular runners off running the half marathon in Geelong this weekend, there were only two starters for the day.

Jacinta ran strongly over the 3 km distance and managed to come in first.

Tessa ran out well over the 4 km course and managed second place.

Congratulations to all those who managed the half-marathon: Steve, Nada, Jozica and Pete. That is an amazing achievement!

There were no PBs and neither runner was within 15 seconds of their PB.

The run this week will be on Saturday 9 April at 7:00am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 307

With only 4 runners able to make it on Thursday evening, it was decided to run a massed start. After adjusting for handicaps, Peter came in first on this hot and humid evening.

Steve ran well into second place and Nada and Jacinta rounded out the field.

There were no personal best times and no-one was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Due to Easter this weekend, there will not be a run, so everyone please enjoy the time with your loved ones.

We will run again on SUNDAY 3 April at 7:30am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any time during the season.

Saturday, March 12, 2016

run 306

We had 11 starters for this morning's run and it was a lovely day for a run along the Yarra.

Nada took off like a rocket, overtaking those who were in front of her and taking out first place for the day and regaining her spot on top of the leader board for this season. Cath and Peter (once his handicap was added on) were next over the line. Jozica was involved in another tight finish this week, this time just edging out Jacinta by 1 second, with Lisa not too far behind.

Jon continues to run consistently and came in 1 second before Tessa - another close call. Unfortunately, I had a fall on the initial leg, so only completed the 3 km course today. After Alicia's handicap was adjusted she has ended up in tenth position. Leanne walked the 2 km course today.

People are starting to hit the 10 run mark for this season and should remember that only your top ten runs will count towards your total points.

No-one ran a personal best time today or was within 15 seconds.

The run next week will be on THURSDAY evening at 6:30pm as the Warrandyte Festival will be held all of next weekend. We look forward to seeing whoever can make it then.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 305

Congratulations to all of the runners who completed the Run Warrandyte event on Sunday morning. Because of this event, we ran on Thursday evening this week which was certainly a change for us all.

We welcomed back Tarryn who hasn't run with us for quite a while, and she completed the 3 km course.

Atsuko started out on the 5 km course, but stopped after 3 km and so her handicap was adjusted accordingly, and she has ended up taking out the run for the evening. There was a great sprint finish between Paul and Jozica, with Paul managing to hold her off by just 1 second! Peter's run brought him in at 4th place, just ahead of both Tessa and Nada.

Well run to everyone in the heat of the evening.

There was only one person within 15 seconds of their personal best time:
well run Atsuko.

No-one ran a personal best time this week.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Our next run will be on Saturday 12 March at 7:00am.

Advance warning that there will be another THURSDAY evening run in the following week due to the Warrandyte Festival which will take place all weekend on 19 and 20 March so the run will be on 17 March at 6:30pm.

Wednesday, March 2, 2016

Run 304

It was a quiet weekend with only 7 starters for the runs. Two people running 3 km and the rest running 5 km.

Steve took out the line honours and has jumped to the top of the consistency table. He was closely followed by Nada who is also a close second in consistency points.

Jozica continues to run well and managed to beat home Atsuko. Peter and Jon had a close finish in times and Tessa rounded out the day.

There were no runners with a PB or within 15 seconds of their PB this week.

Our next run is on THURSDAY EVENING as Run Warrandyte will be happening on Sunday. We will run at 6:30pm. Hope to see you there.

Run 303

It has been great to have Cath back running with us as she was one of the runners from very early on in the River Runners story, and fabulous to see Sam back and running the 3 km course.

First over the line was Steve, but in a blistering time so that he broke by coming in before the 30 minute mark. That left Nada to take out the win this week, with Jozica close behind in second place. Paul struggled to keep up with the front runners, but managed third place, closely followed by Atsuko and Cath who stepped up to the 3km course. Tessa, Sam, Alicia and Jon were the back runners for today's event.

There was only one person within 15 seconds of their personal best time:
well done to Nada and this has secured your place at the top of the consistency table for the moment.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 27 February at 7:00 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 301

It was a beautiful morning for a run along the edge of the Yarra, and there were 14 people who came along to the run this morning. Thanks to Peter and Dennis for doing the timing for us (and hope you are feeling better soon, Peter). A big welcome to Daniel and Rowen who joined us.

After time adjustments for people who wanted to run off earlier/later than their handicaps, the first over the line this morning was Atsuko with Tessa in second place, but they both finished before the 30 minute mark and so have broken this week. That left the maximum points for new runners, Daniel and Rowen, who ran their first 3km run today. Paul was not too far behind them. Jozica was breathing down Paul's neck over the finish line and Alicia came in just behind her, followed closely by Steve. Jon, Lisa and Jacinta rounded out those completing the 3, 4 or 5km courses.

Over the 2km course Niels was first over the line, closely followed by Lucas and Leanne.

There was only one person who beat a time that they had previously run at that distance:
Atsuko beat her previous 3km time by a whopping 2 minutes and 15 seconds. Well done!

We also presented the trophies for last season this morning.

Results for Season 18 were:

Kids section:
1st place to Niels with 19 points from 4 runs
2nd place to Tessa with 17 points from 13 runs (only the best 10 runs are counted towards the consistency total).

Overall section:
1st place to Peter with 105 points from 9 runs including 5 wins
2nd place to Jacinta with 79 points from 12 runs including 4 wins

Medals, trophies, chocolates and wine (for the adults) were awarded for these results.

New runners and walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Our next run will be on Saturday 13 February at 7:00am. We hope to see lots of people there.

Run 300

Today was the groups 300th run and it was great to have 11 people running this morning and we welcomed three new runners: Leanne, Ayden and Lucas. We hope to see you running regularly with us on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Jacinta took out the line honours this morning over the 3 km distance and continues her great running. She was closely followed over the line by Atsuko. After a time adjustment for his first run, Lucas ended up in third position just narrowly beating Nada home. There was a group of three who were all coming home strong, but Tessa managed to beat home Peter and Paul. Jozica and Niels were not too far behind.

Over the 2 km course, Ed continues to run very well and was joined today by Leanne and Ayden who did a combination run/walk for this distance.

There were no Personal Best times recorded by people not on their first run today.

Two people were within 15 seconds of their PB: congratulations to Ed and Jacinta.

Congratulation to Atsuko on her 100th run today, and to Paul for his 150th.

New runners or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Next week the run will be on SUNDAY 7 February at 7:30am. Some of the group will be heading for a coffee at Warrandyte Cafe after the Sunday run.

We are hoping to present the trophies for last season at the end of next week's run.

Run 298 and 299

I have been away and unable to update the blog for a little bit, but the results for the last two weeks have finally been run through the program and the results are:

Run 298

Seven runners competed over 3 and 5 km distances today, with Nada coming in first over the line, and the only runner under 31 minutes (including handicap). Lisa ran well to come in next closely followed by Jacinta and Atsuko. Steve and Peter came in very close together and Jon rounded out the runners for the day.

There were no Personal Best times recorded, but Lisa was within 15 seconds of her PB.

Run 299

With only 5 runners on the weekend there were some easy points up for grabs.

After adjusting times for handicaps as we ran off scratch, the winner was Jacinta running the 3 km course. Steve was next in, with Ed only 10 seconds behind. Paul and Nada rounded out the field for today.

There were no Personal Best times recorded again, but Jacinta was within 15 seconds of her PB.

Our next run will be run number 300! A great milestone for the group which has been running for about 6 years now.

Run 300 will be on Saturday 30 January at 7:00 am.

New runners or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Tuesday, January 12, 2016

Run 297

This week saw 11 runners take to the track by the Yarra to run 3, 4 or 5km distances. Jacinta paced herself beautifully to come in just after the 30 minute mark and scored a win with a PB, gaining the maximum 20 points this week. Niels was only seconds behind.

Tessa and Steve ran well to be around the 31 minute mark, with Jozica and Nada not too far behind. There was a race on between Dennis and Atsuko coming in to the finish line, with Dennis just winning.

Paul and Lisa were a little further back. Peter ran well in his first run back.

There was only the one Personal Best this week:
Jacinta beat her previous 4km best by 17 seconds.

There was also one person within 15 seconds of their PB: well done to Niels.

The run next week will be on Saturday 16 January at 7:00 am.

New runners and walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 296

Happy New Year!

With the start of the New Year comes the start of the Summer season for River Runners.

6 people showed up to run the distances this morning, and Jacinta took off like a rocket coming in before the 30 minute mark. Steve was the first over the line after the 30 minutes in his first ever 4 km run, which has earned him the maximum points and first place on the leaderboard.

Nada ran very well, coming in second place today, followed by Tessa and Jozica with Paul in the final place.

There was one PB recorded this week:
Jacinta beat her previous 4 km best time by 46 seconds - well done.

No-one else was within 15 seconds of their PB.

New runners or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 9 January at 7:00am.
