Run 488

This morning was a cooler and wetter morning for the run along the banks of the Yarra. There were 10 people running or walking with our group this morning, so we had another random number sock draw. Thanks to Atsuko for coming down to do the time-keeping duties today.

In the 2 km distance, there were two walkers: Paul and Jacinta. In the longer distances it was Nada who was first over the line today ahead of Adrienne and Monica who were only one second apart. Kieran managed fourth place with Jon in fifth. Cormick ran well into sixth position today and Peter and Dennis were the last runners over the line.

There was nobody who managed to run a personal best time today and no-one was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Next week the run will be on Sunday at 7:30 am. In the following week we will begin running at 7:00 am on a Saturday.

The random number drawn today was 4, meaning that Kieran wins the socks.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 487

There were 15 starters for the run along the banks of the Yarra today. Thanks to Jacinta for continuing to do the time-keeping duties even though she is not running.

There were two competitors who walked the 2 km distance today: Paul and Margaret. In the longer distances, it was Monica who was over the line first this morning, only one second ahead of Matthew, with Peter not far off in third place. Kieran was in fourth place ahead of Cormick and Tony. James was seventh over the line ahead of Adrienne. Rachel beat Nada in for ninth place, and Jon, Jozica and Mark were the last runners over the line today.

No-one managed to run a Personal Best time this morning, but Monica was within 15 seconds of her 4 km PB.

We have decided to hold off on the earlier starts until after the school holidays which will also line up with the Daylight Savings change over so next week the run will be on Saturday 28 September at 7:30 am.

We are wanting to hold a breakfast after the run on Saturday November 9 to celebrate another successful year for the River Runners. More details to follow, but put the date into your diaries!

We have also reinstated the "sock draw" for when we have more than 10 runners in a weekend. A random number is picked and the person who is in that line on the Weekly Results will win a pair of sports socks. Today's number was 3, meaning Peter wins the socks for this week.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 486

There were 15 starters in the run along the banks of the Yarra on Saturday running or walking each of the distances. Thanks yet again to Jacinta for coming down to do the time-keeping duties again this week. Thanks also to Quinton's SUPA IGA for the fruit they supply each week.

Everyone decided to take off and have the handicaps added on later. Paul and Margaret walked the 2 km distance (with Errol and Saga) this week. In the longer distances, once the times were adjusted for handicaps, Atsuko was first over the line in a beautifully timed 6 km run. Randall was in second place ahead of Kieran, with Monica and Kaje close behind in fourth and fifth. Hayden came in sixth position this week just one second ahead of Nada. Jon (and cinnamon) were in eighth place, with Cormick in ninth. Peter (and Max) were next and Tony, Steve and Dennis rounded out the field this week.

There was one personal best time recorded this week:
Well run Atsuko who took 17 seconds off her previous 6 km best time.

One other runner was within 15 seconds of their PB:
Well done Kaje.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 21 September at 7:30 am.

From the following week (28 September) we will be starting the run at 7:00 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 485

It was a lovely morning for a Sunday run or walk along the banks of the Yarra today. Thanks to Jacinta for continuing to do the timing each week and, as always, a big thank you to Quinton's SUPA IGA for their donation of the fruit each week.

Three people took on the 2 km walk this morning: Paul, Mark and Rachel. In the longer distances, Cormick and James were in a sprint finish at the end of their 5 km distances, but pushed each other too hard, both coming in just before the 30 minute mark and being classified as breaking this week. The win went to Monica, who managed to come in ahead of Sandi today. Alicia stepped up to the 5 km distance and came in third place. Jon took out fourth ahead of Nada and Kieran. Peter and Randall were the last people over the line this morning.

There was one personal best time recorded this morning:
Well done to Cormick who took 34 seconds off his previous PB.

Two others were within 15 seconds of their PB:
Well run James and Sandi.

The winners of Season 29 were announced at the end of this morning's run and the trophies and medals were handed out. In the children's section, first place went to Rachel with a total of 31 points from her 11 runs, and the runner up was Matthew with 26 points from 7 runs. In the overall event, first place went to a very surprised Randall with 113 points from 17 runs, while runner up was Kieran with 111 points from 11 runs. Congratulations to everyone who ran last season. This next season will last until the end of the year (16 runs will be included).

The run results for the last run are now available under the Weekly results link below.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 14 September to 7:30 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.
