Run 336

It was great to see 18 starters for the run along the river on Saturday to run and/or walk 2, 3, 4 or 5 km distances. Thanks to Monica for taking the times this week.

We had two new faces to the group: Imogen and Charlie. It was great to see you there for the weekend and we hope to see you again soon. Margaret and Paul took off to run/walk the 2 km course and Margaret continues to improve on her times each week - great work.

In the main event, Helen came in well before the allocated 30 minutes was up and so is a breaker this week. It was a struggle to keep up with everybody coming in very close together, but the winner turned out to be Jozica in an almost perfectly timed run, finishing at 30 minutes and 2 seconds. Caitlyn continues to run well, coming in second place just ahead of Nada, with Jacinta and Jon close behind.

Imogen on the 3 km course (I will fix the details below) and Charlie on the 4 km course (as first timers) were allocated a finish time of 31 minutes and ended up in 6th position, just seconds ahead of James. Steve was next, ahead of Harrison and Atsuko. Peter, Alicia, Tessa and Catherine rounded out the field.

There were two people who ran their personal best time for the distance today:
Helen beat her previous time by 4 minutes and 38 seconds (wow!),
and Caitlyn who beat her previous best by 10 seconds.

and two were within 15 seconds of their PB:
Jozica and Nada - well done.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any time during the season.

Our next run will be on Saturday 22 October at 7:00 am.

Run 335

There were 16 starters for the run today in beautiful conditions along the Yarra. It really is great to see so many people down for the run, including five kids this morning. Welcome to Will who ran his first 3km run with us this morning, we hope to see you at River Runners again, soon.

The first across the line after handicaps were adjusted (a few people seemed to struggle to get out of bed for the earlier start time of 7:00am for daylight savings) was Caitlyn who again came in under the 30 minute mark and was considered a breaker this morning, Harrison, the birthday boy, also broke this morning. Just after 30 minutes there was a flurry of people crossing the line, making it difficult for the timekeeper, but the honours went to Tessa this morning with a well timed run, only seconds ahead of Angela.

Nada was third over the line with Monica hot on her heels. Will's time brought him in next just ahead of Jozica, James and Jacinta who were within 7 seconds of each other. Peter just held off Alicia, with Steve, Jon and Atsuko rounding out the finishers of the longer distances.

Margaret was the only runner on the 2km course this morning and she continues to reduce her times over this distance. Good work, Margaret.

There were three Personal Best times recorded this morning:
Angela beat her previous best time by 1 second,
Harrison beat his time from last week by 1 minute and 33 seconds, and
Caitlyn continues to improve her times, taking a whopping 2 minutes and 47 seconds off her previous PB.

Two people came within 15 seconds of the PB:
well done to Monica and Tessa.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 15 October at 7:00am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 334

It was a lovely morning for a run along the banks of the Yarra and we were lucky enough to see a wombat run across the path just down from the start/finish line right before we started the clock this morning.

There were 11 starters for the run this morning with people running each of the distances on offer: 2, 3, 4 and 5 km.

With a few adjustments for handicaps at the end of the race the results were very close this morning. Margaret and Ed had taken off from scratch to run the 2 km course, and both ran very well with Margaret cutting a minute iff her time from last week.

In the main competition Catilyn continued to improve her times and came in well before the 30 minute mark and so broke this morning. There was a group who all ran in just after 30 minutes, and they were led across the line by Peter who took out the win. He was followed very closely by Monica and Amelia who took out equal second place, and Angela ran in just behind them.

Harrison stepped up to the 4 km course for the first time this week and has achieved a time just ahead of Nada. Jacinta and Atsuko rounded out the field for today.

There were four personal best times recorded this morning. Congratulations to:
Angela, who beat her previous best time by 1 second,
Monica and Amelia, who both managed a 35 second increase on their PB, and
Caitlyn, who took a massive 2 minutes and 35 seconds off her previous time.

No-one else was within 15 seconds of the PB.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 8 October at 7:00am.

**PLEASE NOTE THE EARLIER TIME FOR SATURDAY RUNS NOW THAT DAYLIGHT SAVINGS HAS STARTED.**

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.
