Run 744
This week saw eight starters in the run along the banks of the Birrarung-Yarra through Warrandyte. Many thanks to Nada for running early and taking on the timekeeping duties once again.
Paul claimed another win this week, adding a helpful boost to his points for the season. Atsuko in second place, Stephen in third and Dave in fourth were all close together, finishing within seven seconds of each other. James followed in fifth, ahead of Sandi in sixth. Nada and Jozica were the final runners over the line.
Stephen completed the 3 km distance for the first time and earned extra points for recording a personal best. Paul and James both finished within 15 seconds of their PBs and received bonus points for that.
The next run will be on Saturday 29 November with the timer starting at 7:30 am.
Our end of year function will be held at Warren Glen Cafe after the run on Sunday 7 December, and the run that week will begin at 8:00 am.
New runners and walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.
Tuesday, November 18, 2025
This week saw four people starting in the run along the banks of the Birrarung-Yarra through Warrandyte. Many thanks to Nada for running early and doing the timekeeping duties. We also welcomed a new walker to the group. A warm welcome to Stephen for officially joining us and being timed on your walk.
Each participant completed a different distance this week, so the handicapping system was put to the test. Stephen was the only person to take on the 2 km non-handicapped distance. Paul finished first overall after completing the 4 km course, with Atsuko close behind in second place, only 18 seconds back after running 6 km. Nada was the final runner over the line after completing 5 km.
Nobody managed a personal best time this week, and no one was within 15 seconds of their PB, so no extra points were awarded.
The next run will be on Saturday 22 November with the timer starting at 7:30 am.
New runners and walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.
A reminder that we are hoping to hold our end-of-year celebration at breakfast after the run on the first Sunday in December.

Run 742
This week brought wet and drizzly weather, but the group still turned out for the weekly run along the banks of the Birrarung-Yarra. Thank you to Nada, who ran early and then took on the timekeeping duties.
There were six starters. Atsuko was the first runner over the line. Sandi followed, finishing not far behind. Paul came in shortly after, with Jon only a second behind him. Nada finished next, a little further back, and James was the final runner over the line.
No personal best times were recorded this week, and nobody finished within 15 seconds of their PB, so no extra points were awarded.
New runners and walkers are welcome to join at any stage during the season. Distances of 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 km are available.
Next week the run will be on Saturday 15 November with the timer starting at 7:30 am.
We hope to have an end of year catch up with a coffee after the first Sunday run in December for anyone who might be available. Full details to follow.

Runs 739, 740 and 741
Sorry that I have not managed to post anything for a few weeks. Here are the details from the last three weeks of running.
Run 739
There were five starters in the run this week, with two people taking on a 2 km walk and the rest running 5 km.
Sandi and Paul walked the 2 km distance together and finished only one second apart. In the longer distances, once handicaps were applied, James took out the win. Dave finished in second place and Jon was the final runner over the line.
There were no personal best times, and nobody finished within 15 seconds of their PB, so no extra points were awarded.
Run 740
There were four starters this week, all taking on the longer distances. Thanks to Nada, who returned to handle the timekeeping duties.
Jozica was the first runner across the line but finished under the 30 minute mark, so was classified as a breaker. This left the win open to Sandi, who finished nine seconds ahead of Nada in second place. Jon was the final runner over the line again this week.
There were no personal bests, and nobody was within 15 seconds of their PB, so no extra points were awarded.
Run 741
We had seven starters on Sunday morning, following the market on Saturday. Thank you to Colin for coming down to handle the timekeeping this week.
Paul once again completed the 2 km walk. In the longer distances, Atsuko was the first runner across the finish line, ahead of Jozica in second place. Nada finished in third position, followed by Monica in fourth. James and Dave were the final runners to complete the course.
Atsuko was the only person to finish within 15 seconds of their PB. Nobody recorded a personal best time this week.

Run 738
This week’s run along the banks of the Birrarung–Yarra saw three starters take to the course. A big thank you to Nada for once again running early to handle the timekeeping duties.
All runners started from scratch this week, with handicaps added after the finish. Once times were tallied, Nada emerged as the winner, followed by Tony in second place and James rounding out the field.
No personal bests were recorded this week, and nobody finished within 15 seconds of their PB, so no bonus points were awarded.
The next run will be held on Saturday, 18 October with the timer starting at 7:30 am.
New runners and walkers are always welcome to join at any stage during the season. We have distances of 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 km available.

Run 734
It was another beautiful morning along the banks of the Birrarung (Yarra River), with milder temperatures making for perfect running conditions. Eight participants turned out for this week’s run through scenic Warrandyte.
It was great to welcome back Jozica and Colin after Jozica’s time away. A big thank you to Colin for taking on the timekeeping duties this week.
This Week’s Run Results
Monica was the first runner across the line today. However, as she finished under the 30-minute mark, she’s listed as a breaker for this week and is not eligible for placings.
That left the win open for Jon, who held off a fast-finishing Paul to take first place by just 15 seconds. Atsuko ran strongly into third position, while Tony edged out Dave to claim fourth. Jozica and Nada completed the field with steady efforts.
Personal Bests
There were two PBs recorded this week:
- Monica smashed her previous best by 1 minute and 15 seconds.
- Paul equalled his previous personal best.
Season 47 Final Results
After the run, we celebrated the conclusion of Season 47 with the presentation of prizes.
- Congratulations to Atsuko, who topped the leaderboard with 119 points from 13 runs (only the best 10 count), including five wins throughout the season.
- Paul claimed second place with 105 points from 15 runs, including four wins.
Well done to all 11 runners who participated during Season 47 – your consistency and commitment are what make this group so enjoyable and inspiring.

Run 729 and 730
Run 729
It was a chilly morning for our weekly run along the banks of the Birrarung/Yarra through Warrandyte, with just three starters this week. A big thank you to Nada, who continues to run early so she can take on the timekeeping duties most weeks.
With only three participants and Nada having already completed her run, we decided not to start based on handicap times. Instead, these were added afterward. This saw Paul take out the win—just one second ahead of Jon—with Nada finishing in third place.
No one managed a personal best this week, and no one finished within 15 seconds of their PB.
Run 730
The rain held off for this week's run, although the riverside track remained damp. Six runners took part in our Warrandyte circuit. Thanks again to Nada for running early and managing the timekeeping.
Paul was first across the line again this week, followed closely by James—just six seconds behind. Sandi ran well into third, just ahead of Dave in fourth. Atsuko and Nada rounded out the field, finishing just eight seconds apart.
As with last week, no one achieved a personal best, and no one finished within 15 seconds of their PB.
Next Week’s Run
The next run will be held on Saturday, 23 August, with the timer starting at 7:30 am.
New runners and walkers are welcome to join at any stage during the season!
Thunderball Gala – Tonight!
The “Thunderball” Gala Ball is on tonight (16 August), raising funds for the Manningham SES. Two of our regular runners, Sandi and Margaret, have played a major role on the organising committee, and we wish them every success for the event.
The evening will feature a silent auction, which is also available online. There are many great items up for grabs, including vouchers for Olivigna, Ember, and Beasley’s Nursery, and wine packs from Kellybrook.

Run 727
It was a relatively warm morning for this week’s run along the banks of the Birrarung/Yarra through Warrandyte. Many thanks to Atsuko for taking on the timekeeping duties today.
The handicaps worked well this week, with many runners finishing close together and a few exciting sprint finishes. Sandi was first across the line, closely followed by Paul just one second behind, and James only a few seconds later in third. Unfortunately for the top three, they crossed the line just before the 30-minute mark, meaning they were all classified as breaking.
In a true "Steven Bradbury" moment, Dave—who finished fourth—was the first runner after the 30-minute threshold, making him this week’s official winner (and on his birthday, no less!). Tony followed just eight seconds later in second place. Jon rounded out the field as the last runner over the line.
With a strong finish, one personal best was recorded this week—congratulations to Sandi for shaving 36 seconds off your previous PB! No other runners finished within 15 seconds of their best times.
Next week’s run will take place on Sunday, 3 August, with the timer starting at 7:30 am.
New runners and walkers are welcome to join at any point during the season!

It was a very cold -1 degrees as five people started the run along the banks of the Birrarung-Yarra this week. Thanks to Colin for braving the cold weather and coming down to do the time-keeping duties for us. All runners started early and have then had their handicaps added on at the end of the run.
Atuko continues to run extremely well this season, taking out another first place this week ahead of Margaret in second position. Paul managed third place just ahead of Nada in fourth. Jozica was the last runner over the line this week.
Nobody managed to run a personal best time, but Atsuko was within 15 seconds of her previous PB.

This was the first run of Season 47 and saw five starters in the weekly run along the banks of the Birrarung/Yarra.
Paul was the only person to take on the shorter, non-handicapped 2 km distance this week. In the longer distances, once the handicaps were added in, Atsuko was the first runner over the line with Dave in second place. Jon took out third place this week ahead of Nada.
There were no personal best times recorded, but two runners were within 15 seconds of their PBs - well run Atsuko and Dave.
Run 716
This cold Saturday morning had six runners in the event.
Once more, Paul was the only person to take on the shorter 2km distance. In the longer runs, Jon was first over the line today, ahead of Nada, Dave and Atsuko who were within 10 seconds of each other in a very close finish. Tony was the last runner over the line this week.
There were three personal best times recorded in the cold: Atsuko took 1 second off her previous PB, Dave took 5 seconds from his previous best time and Jon wiped another 8 seconds off his best time.
Next week the run will be on Saturday 17 May with the timer starting at 7:30 am.
We awarded the winners of Season 46 this morning and congratulate Alex as the winner of the kids section for last season. In the open section, the winner was Jon with 116 points from 9 runs, and the runner up was Atsuko with 102 points from her 14 runs. Runs 706 and 707
There have been smaller numbers attending the runs over the past couple of weeks, so there has been the opportunity to pick up some bigger points for those competing.
Run 706
With only three people running this week, there was the opportunity to grab a high number of points for the run.
Atsuko was the first runner over the line once the handicaps were added on to run times. She was only eight seconds ahead of Tony in second place, with Dave in third position this week.
Two runners were within 15 seconds of their PBs for their chosen distances this week: Congratulations to Atsuko and Dave an some very good running.
Run 707
With only two runners starting this morning (most likely due to the concurrent start of Run Warrandyte this weekend), they chose to start from scratch and have their handicaps added on later.
Congratulations to Tony for taking out the win this week, just 3 seconds ahead of Nada.
Neither runner managed to be within 15 seconds of their PB this week.
Next week the run will be on Saturday 8 March with the timer starting at 7:30 am.

Run 700
We made it to 700 runs for the group! This is the 46th season (a season is 4 months long for us), and we begin our 16th year of running along the banks of the Birrarung-Yarra having started in January 2010. Congratulations to all 226 runners who have been a part of this group over that time. There were four runners who took part in the run this week.
The win this week was taken out by Nada. Dave came in second place just seconds ahead of Atsuko, and James was the final runner over the line.
Run 701
It was a beautiful morning for the run or walk along the river this week. Thanks to Jozica and Colin for coming along to do the time-keeping duties this week.
Two walkers took on the unhandicapped 2 km distance and walked together, well done to Sandi and Margaret. In the longer distances, Jon was the first runner to cross the finish line, but he came in under the 30 minute mark and has been deemed to break this week. That left the win open for Atsuko who crossed the line ahead of James. Paul took out third place with Nada in fourth. Monica was the last runner to finish.
There was one personal best time recorded this week with Jon taking 2 minutes and 42 seconds off his previous 5 km PB. No one else was within 15 seconds of their PB.
Next week the run will be on Saturday 25 January with the timer starting at 7:30 am.
We are aiming to have our presentations for Season 45 after the run the following week on Sunday 2 February, followed by a breakfast at a local cafe (details to follow).
