Run 698

The 22nd of December was the final run for 2024 and we had 10 starters in the run along the banks of the Birrarung-Yarra on a slightly cloudy, 13 degree morning. Many thanks to Jozica for once more doing the time-keeping duties.

In keeping with tradition, we started the run as a mass start to finish the season, and I won't put up the place getters until the winners are announced early next year.

As there were ten runners, we did have a random number draw for the socks which this week went to the third runner after handicaps were added, meaning that Dave was the winner this week.

With no run between Christmas and New Year, the first run of the new season will be on Saturday 4 January with the timer starting at 7:30 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 697

It was a beautiful temperature for the seven runners who took part in the run along the banks of the Birrarung-Yarra this morning. Many thanks to Jozica for coming along to do the time-keeping duties today.

Everybody took off early today so the handicaps were added in after the event. Once the handicaps were accounted for, it was Dave who took out the win again today as he continues to run well this season. Second place went to Tony, only seconds ahead of Adrienne. Atsuko was just behind them in fourth place with Nada taking out fifth position today. Paul and James were the last two runners over the line.

There was one personal best time recorded this week: congratulations to Dave for taking another 12 seconds off his PB. Nobody else was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Next week will be the final run for this season as we don't have a run between Christmas and the New Year. The run will be on Sunday 22 December (there is one more Christmas market) with the timer starting at 7:30 am.

Run 691 and 692

Run 691

There were five starters in the run along the banks of the Birrarung-Yarra this week. Thanks to Nada for doing the time-keeping duties yet again.

It was a slow week this week with nobody coming close to the 30 minute mark. Nada managed to be the first person over the line ahead of Atsuko, with Paul in third place. James was only one second behind Paul and Harrison was the final runner to finish.

Nobody managed a personal best time and no one was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Run 692

There were 11 starters in the run this week, so there was another draw for a pair of socks. Thanks to Nada for running early and then doing the time-keeping duties for the group.

First across the line (once the handicaps had been added as most people decided to run off 'scratch' today), was Renee. She had, however, run too quickly and came in before the 30 minute mark and therefore broke this week. That left the win wide open and Nada took it out again this week. Alex managed to take out second place only 4 seconds ahead of Adrienne, with Dave snapping at their heels in fourth position. Harrison was in fifth position today only one second ahead of Atsuko. Tony took seventh place with Jozica in eighth. James was in ninth position and Paul was the last runner over the line this week.

There was one personal best time recorded this week: congratulations to Nada for taking another 9 seconds off her previous PB. Nobody else was within 15 seconds of their PB.

The random number drawn for the socks this week was 2, which means that Nada takes the prize this week.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 16 November with the timer starting at 7:30 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

There was one personal best time recorded this week: Congratulations to Jon for taking 27 seconds off his previous 3 km PB. Nobody else was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Run 674

There were only three starters in the run along the banks of the Birrarung-Yarra this morning with one person running each of 3, 4 and 5 km distances. Thanks to Colin for coming along to do the time-keeping duties this week. I have adjusted Nada's distance for last week as she ran 4 km (not the 5 km distance I had registered her for). That gave her the win last week rather than a break.

Nada was the first runner over the line again this week after running 4 km, but she came in just 4 seconds before the 30 minute mark and so did break today. That left the win open for Jozica running the 5 km distance, with Paul (who ran 3 km) only 7 seconds behind her in second place.

Nada managed to take 34 seconds off her previous 4 km personal best time (from last week), but nobody else managed a PB.

That left the win open for Harrison this morning. Second place went to Atsuko, just ahead of Paul in last position.

Nada managed to take a whopping 4 minutes and 18 seconds off her personal best time for the 5 km distance. Nobody else was with 15 seconds of their PB.

Nada was restricted to walking this week but still took on the 2 km distance. In the longer distances Jon was the first person over the line today, but he managed too quick of a time and came in before the allocated 30 minute mark as a breaker. That left the win ope to Atsuko, who ran a perfectly-timed run coming in at exactly 30 minutes. Paul managed second place just ahead of Monica, and Jozica was the final runner over the finish line.

Jon's time was his quickest for the 4 km distance, beating his previous PB by one minute. Nobody else was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Next weekend is the Warrandyte Festival on Friday and Saturday, so we will hold off on the run until Sunday (21 April) morning with the timer starting at 7:30 am for our second-last run of the season.

Run 655

It was a cooler morning for the run along the banks of the Birrarung-Yarra this morning. The track seemed much busier than normal with plenty of walkers, runners, cyclists and dogs to dodge as we ran the track. Thanks to Colin for coming along today to do the time-keeping duties for us.

Jozica was the first runner over the line today, but came in under the 30 minute mark and therefore was classified as breaking. That left the win open for Paul in his second win this season. He was followed closely over the line by Atsuko and then Nada. Jon came in fourth place today and Harrison was the last runner over the finish this morning.

Nobody managed a personal best time this morning and no-one was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 17 February with the timer starting at 7:30 am.
