Run 447

It was a warm morning after a bit of rain to increase the humidity before 11 starters set out for the run on Saturday morning. Thanks to Jacinta for being the timekeeper this week. It was good to see James back after some much longer runs interstate.

Alicia was the first person back across the line today, but she came in 11 seconds before the 30 minute mark and has broken this week. That left the win open for Randall again this week - his fifth win for the season - and sees him well positioned on the top of the consistency ladder. Second place was taken out by Atsuko, only one second ahead of Paul with Matthew not too far behind. Genevieve ran well into fifth place this week with Peter hot on her heels. Nada, James, Jacinta and Adrienne rounded out the field.

There were two personal best times recorded this week:
Randall beat his previous PB by 4 seconds, and
Alicia was 12 seconds ahead of her best time.

No-one else was within 15 seconds of their PB this week.

Next week the run will be on Sunday 16 December at 7:30 am as there is another Warrandyte Community Market on Saturday.

We will be having a BBQ after the run on Sunday, so come along and join us for an end-of-year celebration.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Jacinta was the only runner to take on the shorter (2 km) course this week. In the longer distances, it was Randall who managed to take out the win this week with a PB earning himself the maximum points for this run. In second place was Paul, ahead of Nada. Congratulations to James on completing a 100 km run in September and to Atsuko on completing another marathon. Well done to you both and congratulations on these outstanding achievements.

Run 417

There were 10 people out for the run along the banks of the Yarra this morning. Thanks to Jozica for doing the timing this morning.

First over the line this morning was Matthew, followed by Randall but they had both run too quickly today and have come in before the 30 minute mark and so could not be awarded maximum points. That left Tessa as the winner of today's event, followed by Atsuko only 5 seconds behind her. Nada named in third place followed by Paul and then Daniel in his first run at 4km. Peter and Jacinta rounded out the field for the longer distances today. Mark walked this morning over the 2 km distance.

There were three personal best times run today:

Run 416

It was a chilly morning that saw 19 starters in the run along the Yarra today for the first run of the new season. Welcome to Matthew who ran for the first time with us this morning. Thanks to Peter for coming along to do the time keeping this week. Several people chose to run new distances and at different times to their handicap, so Peter was kept on his toes for the starting. It also meant that there were quite a few groups coming in close together and the final times were also tricky to manage, but he did a great job.

After the handicaps had been added in to runs and adjustments made Robert ends up being the first over the line, but he had run too quickly coming in nearly a minute before the 30 minute mark and breaking this week. That left the win to Atsuko in another great run. Matthew, Randall and Mark all ran the 4 km distance together for the first time this week and so ended up on 31 minutes in second place. Dennis was only one second behind them, and Daniel was six seconds back. Cormick, Henry and Kieran were in another group coming in within ten seconds of each other, and just ahead of Jozica. Catherine was next over the line, followed by Paul, Louanna and Tessa within 7 seconds. Amelia and Monica rounded out the field for the longer runs. Only one person took on the shorter 2 km distance this morning - well run Harrison.

There was only one personal best time recorded this morning:
well run Robert.

And one person was within 15 seconds of their PB:
Congratulations to Atsuko.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 12 May at 7:30 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

The lucky number for the socks draw this week was 11 - so congratulations to Jozica.

Sunday, April 22, 2018

With only a week to go until the end of the season there was a sense of friendly competition down at the river this morning.  Both Randall and Atsuko managed PBs today but it was Randall first across the line followed by Daniel, who continues to improve.  Next it was Atsuko with Mark not far behind.  Nada, Louanna, Jacinta and Tessa all came in within 30 seconds of each other with Adrienne, Jon and Jozica rounding out the field.  Father/son duo, Mark and Daniel were within 15 seconds of their PBs this week.

Thank you to Monica for time keeping for us.

We had 15 runners joining us down at the river this morning.  It was great to see Adrienne running with us again after a short break, and congratulations to Atsuko, James, Jozica and Peter on completing the Geelong Half Marathon last weekend.

There was one runner and one passenger in the shorter 2km distance.  Jacinta and her son, Christopher, who thoroughly enjoyed the ride in his stroller.

It was a thrilling finish in the longer distances with the first 3 over the line all coming in with PBs this week.  Randall continues to run well, just one second ahead of Renee, but it was Mark across the line in first place by only 2 seconds.  Tessa, Louanna, Monica, Sandi and Adrienne also came in within a 90 second period just to keep us on our toes.

The socks go to number 3 this week, congratulations Renee!

This week saw the run along the Yarra on Thursday night as we were expecting the Warrandyte Festival to be on the weekend (but that's a different story). There were 13 starters for the run this week and we welcomed new runner Caitlin to the group.

In the 2 km event, Jacinta was first over the line, followed by Caitlin and Randall. For the longer, handicapped section Catherine managed to be first over the line, but ran four seconds too quickly and came in before the 30 minute mark. That left the win to be taken out by Renee, who came in just ahead of Atsuko and Monica. James was not too far behind in fourth place. Peter and Sandi finished within one second of each other and Nada was only seconds behind them. Elizabeth and Amelia were the last runners over the line.

There were two people who managed to run faster than their personal best times today and no one else was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Run 407

Because of the market on Saturday this weekend and Run Warrandyte on Sunday morning, the run this week was held on Thursday evening and saw 12 people running 2, 3, 4 or 5 km.

Only one runner took to the 2 km course this week in Jacinta. In the longer distances, times were very quick, with Daniel, Cormick and Kieran all coming in before the 30 minute mark and registering as a break for this week. That left the win to be taken out by Peter in a beautifully timed run, coming in only seconds after 30 minutes. Randall was in second place (and currently sits in second on the consistency table for this season as well), just ahead of Mark. Several people running new distances were Robert, Elizabeth and Catherine so they all registered a 31 minute time this week Nada and Monica were just behind them.

A reminder about the consistency table: only your best 10 runs from a season can count towards your tally for that season.

There were five Personal Best times tonight:
Randall took another 12 seconds off his previous best,
Mark took 30 seconds off his PB,
Cormick was 1 minute and 2 seconds faster than his previous best,
Kieran was 1 minute and 9 seconds ahead of his best pace, and
Daniel took an amazing 2 minutes and 56 off his previous PB.
