Run 355

It was a cooler morning that saw 12 starters for the run today. Thanks to Peter for starting us off at our allocated handicap times and to Monica for being there for the finishing times. Welcome back to Mark who we haven't seen running with us for quite a while. This morning's run on the 3 km and 5 km course had the added obstruction of running through the setting up of the pottery expo along the edge of the track. After points were allocated for today's run the top three runners are all within seven points of each other - looks like it may be close as we are now half way though this season.

The times this morning were quite fast and there was a sprint home between the two leading runners, resulting in Atsuko being first over the line, but being just a second too quick and breaking. That left the win in a perfectly timed 30 minute finish time to Nada, with Jacinta only 10 seconds behind her. Louanna continues to run well (even if she wasn't feeling the best) and managed third place today, coming in below 30:30. Mark had a very good run for his first time out with us in a while, coming in fourth place today.

Jon and Dennis ended up only 3 seconds apart and a little way ahead of Tessa. Jozica ran will into eighth position only just ahead of Amelia and Paul was last of the line today (after his handicap was adjusted). Ed was back after an injury and was the only person who ran the 2 km course this morning.

The cooler weather obviously made it easier for running, with three people managing their personal best times this morning:
Atsuko beat her previous best time by 7 seconds (and ran under 23 minutes for the 5 km course for the first time - great running Atsu!)
Jacinta beat her previous PB by 12 seconds, and
Louanna took an amazing 36 seconds off her previous best 3 km run time.

One runner was within 15 seconds of their previous PB:
Well done Nada.

Our next run will be on THURSDAY EVENING at 6:30 pm as there will be the market next Saturday morning and Run Warrandyte on Sunday.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 354

It was great to see Louanna back again this week and stepping up to the 3 km distance along with another 11 starters. Thanks so much to Peter for timekeeping again this week.

There were many people running off later or earlier than their allocated handicaps, so the computer had a bit of adjusting to do to compensate. After all of the adjustments were made, I can declare that Monica was the winner on the day, coming in at 30 minutes and 31 seconds. Jacinta was not very far behind her and Louanna in her first 3 km run came in third place, only one second ahead of Atsuko. Nada and Tessa were the only others to come in before 32 minutes. Steve and Jozica came in ahead of Paul and Amelia. Jon and Harrison completed the field

Jacinta is sitting on top o fate Consistency Ladder after 7 runs this season, 9 points clear of Atsuko. As people begin to run more than ten runs in the season, only their best ten results will be recorded, so the field is still very open.

No-one ran a personal best time this week, and Monica was the only person to run within 15 seconds of their PB.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 25 February at 7:00 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Advance Notice: The weekend of Run Warrandyte, 5 March, we will be unable to run on the Saturday (Market Day) or the Sunday (Run Warrandyte), so we will run instead on the Thursday evening at 6:30 pm (TBC).

Run 353

It was a very warm morning that saw 11 people starting out running 2, 3, 4 or 5 km along the Yarra. Thanks to Peter for doing the timekeeping again today, and a very big welcome to Louanna for her first run with the group. Hopefully we will see her back again soon.

Louanna took off on her first run on the 2 km course and was the only person running that distance this morning. In the longer distances, Jacinta was first over the line after the 30 minute mark and picked up her second win for the season. Nada narrowly beat Atsuko into second place today with Monica and Jozica working hard to come in fourth and fifth. After some handicap adjusting, Paul managed to just beat Jon, with Amelia not far behind them. Steve and Harrison rounded out the placings for the day.

No-one managed a personal best today and no-one was within 15 seconds of their PB.

After the run, we had the presentations for last season:

In the kids section:
Winner: Ameila 62 points from 8 runs
Runner up: Caitlyn 44 points from 6 runs

In the open section:
Winner: Nada 96 points from 14 runs
Runner up: Monica 90 points from 12 runs

That is the third season in a row that Nada has won. Congratulations!

Net week the run will be on Saturday 18 February at 7:00 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 352

It was a lovely morning for a run along the banks of the Yarra River in Warrandyte on the weekend. Thanks to Peter for doing the timekeeping this week for the ten starters who came down to run 3, 4 or 5 km distances.

First over the line this week was Jozica in only her second run for this season. Amelia came in second after running her first ever 4 km distance. She was just a few seconds ahead of Atsuko. Dennis managed to get home ahead of Paul who had dropped back to a 3 km distance for this week. Adrienne just kept running after running down to meet us at the starting point, and came in sixth place. Jacinta, Tessa, Monica and Harrison rounded out the field today.

There were no personal best times recorded this week and no-one was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 11 February at 7:00 am. After the run we hope to present the trophies and medals to our winners from last season.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 351

It was great to see three new runners at the river for this week's run: welcome to Emma, Heidi and Tom. Many thanks to Peter for doing the timing this morning, too.

This morning was Atsuko's morning to shine - a perfectly timed run to come in just after the 30 minute mark. Once Tom's handicap was adjusted for the 3 km run, he ended up in second place, just ahead of Nada. Monica and Jacinta were fighting out for fourth place. Harrison, running 3 km, was only seconds ahead of Caitlyn and Heidi running the 4 km distance this week. Paul continues to improve his times after coming back from injury. Emma was the only person running the 2 km course this week.

No-one ran a personal best time over their chosen distance this week and no-one was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Next week the run will be on SUNDAY 5 February at 7:30 am as there is a market on Saturday.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

We hope to have our Season 21 presentations on Saturday 11 February after the run.
