Run 194 (Summer Season 13)

Even though it is Xmas there were still a number of starters around to kick off the commencement of the new season. If you didn't make it down don't let the early wins put you off as it is only your best 10 runs that are taken into consideration.

A few people mentioned they were happy to be out after all the pavlova, trifle and Christmas puddings and I fully agree. All that carb loading didn't worry our first 3 across the line, though. Paul took out the first win of the season with Atsuko and Alex rounding out the top 3. This was a nice mild run before the temperature rose later in the day.

Great effort everyone and hope to see you again next year. There is no market so the run will be on Saturday.

Within 15 Seconds

Next run is Saturday 4 January 2014 at 7:00am.

All new starters past participants are welcome to join us.

Run 193 Season 12 final

There was a little humidity this morning impacting a few finishing times. Well done for everyone as the consistency points table lead was well and truly up for grabs by a number of takers.

It was a mass start and I am sure a few are wondering who won. I won't make you wait to the new year.

Margaret ran a PB this morning not only to take out the win for the morning but to take out the overall season. Great work. She was followed by Paul and then Nada.

From a season point of view the following runners took out this season 12's awards:
First Adult - Margaret
Second Adult - Nada & Caitlin

First Child - Caitlin
Second Child - Owen C

Well done to everyone and thank you for a fun season. We will be running between Xmas and New Year if you are interested.

Have a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year if I do not see you before hand.

PB
Margaret - 20 Seconds

Next run is Saturday 28 December 2013 at 7:00am.

Run 192 and Xmas Breakfast

Well Xmas is closing in and so is the end of the season. We thought Nada may have had her second season in a row stitched up, however this week saw a perfectly timed win by Caitlin to shoot her up to equal points on the ladder. Well done Caitlin.

We had our largest field in a while covering all distances, which was great to see. We are also still seeing PBs tumble as well. Paul was unfortunate to break by the barest of margins, however this allowed Caitlin to pick up maximum points. She was closely followed by Jozica and myself after the adjustment of time.

For the 2ker's Eilish and Nicole continue to make it hard for the timekeeper to split and this week Jarrah and Jon followed suit.

Thanks Alex for timekeeping this week. You did a great job and welcome to do it again at anytime if you would like.

Well done everyone and I hope to see you all for the mass start this Sunday. The last of the season and still anyone's call as to who will win. Caitlin, Nada, Margaret or Jon could easily take out the honours.

I hope everyone had a great breakfast at the Warrandyte Cafe.

PBs this week:
Jon - 1 minute 28 seconds
Jarrah - 1 minute 27 seconds
Caitlin - 17 seconds
Jozica - 9 seconds
Owen C - 1 second.

Nicole was within 15 seconds.

The next run is on Sunday 22 December 2013 at 7:30am due to the markets on Saturday.

Run 191

Well I have had to check the stopwatch twice now, with the same results, everything is spot on. I can only put this weeks results down to a few things. The biggest is the winter training everyone has been doing. The next is I found out from Alex that this was his 2nd 4k run and his first one was done slowly as he didn't want a big handicap, so give him heaps next week. The last is I am aware that Paul had been running the 3k distance as a recovery run from injury so this explains his break even though he said he was going out slow.

Caitlin and Jozica on the other hand have come out and ripped the course up with blitzing times to finish under the 30 minute mark, leaving Margaret to take out the top points for the day. Not to forget Jarrah producing another PB to blitz the 2k course.

I thought it was the stopwatch so I ran hard over the distance, thinking that I could get a PB if the stopwatch was wrong. I also timed this on the watch. Unfortunately I still couldn't produce the results of everyone else today.

Well done and see you all next Sunday.

PBs
Alex - 3 minutes 17 seconds
Jon - 1 minute 50 seconds
Jarrah - 1 minutes 48 seconds
Jozica - 1 minute 1 second
Caitlin - 59 seconds
Margaret - 2 seconds

Great work everyone.

The next run will be Sunday 15 December 2013 at 7:15am.

All new runners and walkers are welcome to join us.

Run 190

Alex was the last out of the gates and didn't he set the cat among the pigeons. There were so many breaks and PB's I had to check that the stopwatch was working. Sure enough it was.

This week saw Eilish and Nicole sprint to the finish. It was so close I wasn't able to separate them. This provided a new PB for Nicole in her second run with us. Well done.

From a 3k and above perspective Jon broke with a huge PB and this was even after his win last week and additional handicap. He was closely followed by Alex and Nada who also produced PBs and finished under the 30 minute mark.

Leaving the options open for first place, Caitlin produced a stunning performance to take the win this week and maximum points. She was closely followed by Margaret.

Great work everyone. It was a lovely start to a great weekend.

PBs
Jon - 1 minute 2 seconds
Alex - 56 seconds
Caitlin - 16 seconds
Nada - 11 seconds
Nicole - 10 seconds

The next run will be on Sunday 8 December 2013 at 7:30pm due to this being market weekend.

Run 189

We were fortunate with the weather this week as Jon had a well deserved win and produced a PB over the 5k. This means he picks up top points and shoots up the consistency ladder. He was closely followed by Atsuko and then after adding in her handicap Jodi came in third.

Thank you to Eilish and Owen for their time keeping efforts. They flew around the course to back in time to record the finishers. The were so quick Eilish picked up a PB and Owen was just one second out from his.

Speaking of PBs, Lewis arriving at our old time didn't want anyone waiting around so blitz his previous time. Great work.

PBs for the week:
Lewis - 1min 7 secs
Eilish - 32 secs
Jon - 4 secs

The next run will be on Saturday 30 November 2013 at 7:00am.

All new walkers and runners are welcome to join us.

Run 188

A nice morning for a run.

There were so many events occurring over the weekend, however ours is local and every weekend. Thank you to everyone that continue to support it.

This week saw Owen storm home to hold off the leader of the points award as Owen completed his first 4k run with us. Well done. It was great to watch the finish as Paul and I could see Nada closing the gap fast. She finished a very close second with Peter coming in third.

There were no PBs this week.

Have a great week all and the next run will be on Saturday 23 November 2013 at 7:00am

Run 187

There is so much to say this week.

The conditions weren't the best, as the rain came down so did the temperature. This didn't deter our eager field after the long weekend last week.

We saw 3 personal bests with the kids blitzing the field only to break well under the 30 minute mark. This meant that the husband and wife duo finished first and second and very closely followed by the rest of the field.

We hope to see Jozica and Ollie next week, keeping the legs warm before their trip to Marysville. This is good luck just in case I do not get the results out early enough next week.

It was good to see Jodi back out with us. Those that know me know I had to say that. Just kidding.

PBs
Jarrah - 1 minute 56 seconds
Jozica - 1 minute 18 seconds
Caitlin F - 1 minute 17 seconds

All well over 1 minute in improvements. That is just amazing.

The next run will be on Saturday 16 November 2013 at 7:00am.

We welcome all new runners so come along and join us or if you know of anybody interested in running why not bring them along.

Run 186

I was going to say easy points for everyone, however after running into a swirling breeze that I couldn't quite work out which direction it was coming from I'd have to say everyone earned every point they received.

After a few weeks off Doug took out line honours just keeping Owen at bay. It was good to see Owen back out with us again and the back markers taking out first and second.

Even with cooler conditions Jozica posted a PB as she trains for an upcoming event.

PBs this week saw:
Jozica - 31 seconds
Great work

The next run will be on Saturday 9th November 2013 at 7:00am.

Run 185

Well I have a lot's to update after a couple of weeks off.

Firstly thank you to everyone who pitched in to keep everything so well recorded for the past 3 weeks. I also want to thank everyone for continuing to come out and run as without you this would be a very boring update.

I also want to remind everyone that next weeks run is Sunday at the new time of 7:30am.

Now for the latest updates.

I want to welcome Jarrah who has joined us this season and welcome Jozica back as she trains for the upcoming Marysville event.I must admit that I always enjoy seeing our parents taking the time to introduce their kids to running and the support the group provides to these youngsters.

The results showed Margaret post 3 new PBs over the past 4 weeks and Caitlin F also ran a PB. Exceptional running.

The consistency results see Nada ahead at the moment, however a win can easily shake things right up.

I also would like to thank Nada for helping out with the timing this week. This was unfortunately detrimental to her potential win as I tried to push my limits so no one was standing around waiting.

PBs this week saw:
Jarrah - 3 minutes 22 seconds
Margaret - 40 seconds
Great work

The next run will be on Sunday 3rd November 2013 at 7:30am due to the markets this weekend.

We welcome all new runners so come along and join us or if you know of anybody please bring them along.

Run 181

It was cool again this morning as everyone got a run in prior to this years AFL final festivities.

Footy season has obviously help Leo out this year as he blitzed around the course to break by more than a minute. This left the gate open for our last seasons consistency winner to take the first spot. Well done Nada. Not to far behind was Steve K, Atsuko and Caitlin F.

We had the presentations today so congratulations to our winners for season 11.
Nada - Top spot
Atsuko - A very close second
Owen K - First youngster
Caitlin F - Second youngster

Enjoy.

There was 1 PB and 2 equal PBs this week:

PBs:
Leo - 1 minute 32 seconds (amazing)
Margaret - equal
Nada - equal

Run 179 & 180

I am not sure about last week, however it was a cool morning this morning with the mercury at around 5 degrees. Thanks to Peter for running things last week, it was greatly appreciated.

Last week looked to be a hotly contested run with just 1 second separating Jon and Steve. This week was a little easier with a nice spacing between runners as everyone tried to warm up as quickly as possible.

It was great to see everyone out and I hope to see everyone again next week.

I plan to have the presentations next week so will let you know if they do not go ahead.

There were no PBs this week, however last week saw 1 PB and 1 within 15 seconds:

Run 178 New Season

A cool start to the new season. It was 6 degrees this morning and it felt a little cooler. This didn't stop a large crowd starting off the Spring event.

Doug played it cool this morning telling everyone he was out for a slow one today. He started well and wasn't able to be caught. It was rumoured that he was secretly training whilst on leave recently.

Doug was closely followed by Jon, Nada and Atsuko who were all only seconds apart.

There was 1 PB and 2 within 15 seconds this week:

PBs:
Barbara - 45 seconds

Within 15 seconds:
Jon and Nada

Run 177 (Season final)

I would like to thank everyone who came down and joined us this season. I hope you can all make for the next season as we move into Spring and Summer. If you haven't been out for the last season why not come and join us again and commence training for the next Run Warrandyte event.

This season saw Nada take out top honours just ahead of Atsuko. Well done to the ladies of the event as they clearly showed us guys how easy it was.

For the kids event Owen K takes out top honours for his 3rd season in a row and racked up an additional 32 points on his previous win. It was also fitting that he celebrated his 50th run this week. Well done. He was closely followed on the points table by Caitlin F a runner that not only loves to come out but does so well and makes it look so easy.

Presentations will be in a couple of weeks when I organise the trophies and medals. I will give everyone notice.

In relation to run 177, I think there are going to be a few disputes over the winner although it only hampers him for the start of next season. The conditions were perfect for running and the PBs showed. There were 2 breakers this week and some very close groupings.

Have a nice father's day to all the dads and see you all next Sunday. As agreed we will continue with the later start until daylight savings kicks in.

There were 4 PBs and 1 within 15 seconds this week:

PBs:

Run 176

Well we had a slightly shortened course this week due to a fallen tree and whilst the GPS pulled the adjusted course at just over 200m short I have adjusted everyone's times by 2 minutes. You can do the calculation backwards if you want to look at the time you ran today.

This meant that there were no breakers which I thought was only fair. Leo therefore took out top honours running hard after finishing footy for the year. Jon was unable to catch him but came in a close 2nd whilst Nada, our overall leader of the consistency points tally this season, finished in third place.

I would like to also point out that Owen K ran his 49th run this week so his next run will be his 50th. Well done.

Next week therefore is our last run for the season. It will be a mass start so you need to be there on time. It will be difficult to determine who will win as the top three are very close. Remember it is only the top 10 runs that count and the top 7 have all hit that mark.

Good luck to everyone and thank you for coming down this morning. It was a good field.

Run 175

After the wild winds last night, it was a nice contrast to have such beautiful weather for our run this morning.

There are only 2 runs left and the top 4 runners are all in contention for the top prize. It only takes a win and a high placing to secure the top spot.

Today saw Jon take out a much deserved win and with a PB. It was interesting as I think starting with Steven G pushed them both. Jon was closely followed by Caitlin and Nada, who are both running well. Unfortunately due to the consistency calculations Nada has run more than 10 runs this season and it is only the best 10 runs that are counted. A 3rd would have well and truly been up there for me.

It was good to see Margaret back for another run. Well done.

I hope the weather is on the improve as the sun comes up a little earlier each morning.

Caitlin showed us how it is done this week taking out top honours with a convincing win and a PB. Nada continued her perfectly timed runs with a second and was closely followed by Steven G who after finishing his footy season has come out and run a PB over the 5k course.

It was a smaller field this week so easy points for everyone and with the weather changing for the better it was a great morning to be out.

Well done to all.

Thanks again Peter for conducting the timing last week.

Caitlin in her 2nd ever 4k run, blitzed the field and was unfortunate to break. That is finish under the 30 minute mark. This allowed Alex to take out the win with his first run for the season. This was off the back of a run the previous day.
Alex was closely followed by Nada and Atsuko who continue to rack up the points on the consistency table.
Well done to all.

Thanks to Peter again this week for conducting the timing.

Good luck to everyone participating in the Sri Chinmoy run tomorrow. The event is a little dearer than our $1 but they do provide pancakes afterwards.

To Anthony well done on a win just holding out Jon who picked up a second after his win last week. Owen K just held out Paul by a second after the handicaps were applied. Well done.

For the 2kms Eilish had a great run to come home and surprise the timekeeper. She was closely followed by Caitlin who pipped Marianne who has returned after a few weeks off. Good to see you back again.

Thanks to Peter for coming down for the timekeeping.

Welcome to Nicole, who along with Eilish had a strong photo finish over the 2 kms. Luckily we didn't have a camera so it meant it was a draw. Well done girls.

I am glad we celebrate Birthdays after running as those muffins were beautiful. Happy Birthday Owen.

Now onto the 3 and 5 km run: Well done John a great run today to take the field by surprise and take out a much deserved win. Whilst you were closely followed by Paul and Nada a change to Paul's time due to an earlier start meant Nada picked up some valuable points for the season.

If anyone is running in the Run Melbourne event tomorrow or are crazy enough to run in the 80 km You Yangs ultra good luck. Otherwise we hope to see you all at the hut next week.

A great couple of runs with the weather a little warmer than it has been. Nada was just being pipped by Owen right by the line last week. She came out this week though and showed that she could still take out top spot which provided some very valuable points.

Run 168

A slightly smaller field this week. Everyone was glad Anthony's prediction for cold and wet weather didn't come true.

A huge thanks to Peter who wasn't well enough to run, but still made it down to time keep for us. It was appreciated.

Whilst it was a little warmer and I mean only just warmer this week a mass start was again agreed to. This meant that it is a lot harder to judge times. So after all the handicaps are applied Steve came up with a fantastic win 2 secs ahead of myself. Great work.

Owen K continues to accumulate points as he finished third and I shouldn't forget our 2 km runners with Caitlin F bringing some great enthusiasm to the event as she blitzes the course without stopping. Well done Caitlin and to all keep up the great work. It is always harder over Winter.

Remember next week is market weekend so the run will be n Sunday. If you are heading off for the school holidays, have a happy and safe journey. Remember to stay running.

Doug did well this week to take out the win. A great effort for such a cold morning.
Rather than have everyone standing around in the cold, a mass start was agreed to by all. This means that first across the line is not always first after handicap adjustments occur.

So closely following Doug was Nada in second and Steve in third.

Run 166

Another big turn out this morning. Lets hope it continues as next week the days will start to get longer.

We had 2 breakers this morning with Owen K and Jon finishing well before the 30 minute mark. Owen K produced a great PB over the 3k distance and Jon came within 15 seconds for an extra point. This left the field right open with Atsuko producing another win for the season. Great work. Doug picked up a second and Anthony came in a very close third.

In the 2k run Owen came so close to his PB, however it wasn't to be this morning. I hope to see him back out there to smash his PB in the near future. This effort shouldn't be overshadowed by Blake who finished just ahead of Owen and Caitlin who absolutely blitzed her previous 2k time.

Well done to everyone and see you next week.

Thanks to Paul for setting everyone off this morning.

There were 3 PBs and 2 within 15 secs this week:

Run 165

There was a big crowd for such a cold morning, but a great start to the long weekend.

We celebrated another birthday this week and I am sure the delicious muffins have to be the best reward for all the efforts we put in. Thank you Nada they were superb.

I think Nada may have had one of these muffins prior to the run as she literally flew across the finish line to take honours and a PB. Well done. The win was achieved after Anthony broke with myself and Owen closely following. This was after an adjustment for a late start for yours truly.

This has meant a change to the leader board with a great tussle occurring for the top spot.

Also a big thanks to Olie for picking up the timekeeping after being beaten by Lewis and Miles.
