Run 95 - Last run of season 6

Well the last run of season 6 has been run and won.  By whom you may ask?  Well you will just have to wait to find out.

It was a beautiful morning and a good turn out of runners - maybe there were some PB's run?  We'll have to wait to find that out too.

By mutual agreement the first run for 2012 will be on Saturday 14 January at 7:00am.

I wish you all a safe and merry Christmas and hope you will be back to join us at Warrandyte River Runners for 2012.  Thanks to everyone for making it such a fun, social weekly event.

Run 94

Congratulations Marianne!  This morning is was Aunty Mez's turn to take out her first win of the season - well done.

This week it was a bit colder than we had all expected but that made for excellent running conditions.  We saw 2 new PB's recorded and 1 equal PB.  This week's PB's were;

Martin - 34 seconds
Peter - 11 seconds
Rob - equal PB

Next week is the last run of the season so it will be a MASS START.  We need everyone there on time ready to start running at 7:00am.

The run will be on Saturday 10th December at 7:00am sharp!

See you down by the hut!

Run 93

Congratulations Rob!  This weekend it was Rob's turn to take out his first win for the season, with a personal best time and picking up the maximum 20 points.

It was quite wet and muddy - everyone who ran really deserves extra points for their dedication.

This week we saw two personal best times recorded.
Dan - 35 seconds
Rob - 4 seconds

Run 92

Congratulations Peter!  Once again Peter put all he had into his run and has come away with a win and a personal best time, for his 5th win for the season.  Fantastic effort.

Everyone seemed a little tired this morning but that didn't slow the pace.  It was a close run with 2 personal best times recorded and 1 within 15 seconds.  This week's PB's were;

Rob - 10 seconds
Peter - 7 seconds
Within 15 seconds - Lucia

Next week the run is on Saturday 26th November at 7:00am.

Run 91

Congratulations Lucia!  This weekend Lucia took out her 4th win for the season, with yet another personal best time and secured the maximum 20 points.  Fabulous running and keep up the good work.

It was a beautiful morning and we saw 2 personal best times recorded.  This week's PB's were;
Dan - 2:03 minutes
Lucia - 14 seconds

With 4 runs remaining this season there is still plenty of time to get out there running before Christmas and earn yourself some points.  The 3 people at the top of the consistency table have all run their 10 runs for the season - only the best 10 runs count - so they will have to work hard to secure any more points.

It's great to see everyone out running each week, and it would be great to see some of our previous regulars return.  Don't be shy - we'd love to see you back.

Next week the run is on Saturday 19th November at 7:00am.

See you down by the hut.

Run 90

Congratulations Peter.  Today Peter took out the hat trick with his 3rd win in a row, which has also pushed him into 2nd place on the consistency table.  Well done.

Today was also Lincoln's 50th run with Warrandyte River Runners which I have only just realised.  So next week I'll bring along something special to celebrate Lincoln's dedication.

Welcome to our new runner, Dan.  We hope you enjoyed yourself and look forward to seeing you back again.

It was very warm this morning which made it hard for anyone to secure a personal best time.  We had 2 come within 15 seconds of their personal best;

Lucia
Peter

Next week we are back to our regular Saturday.  The run will be on Saturday 12 November at 7:00am.

See you down by the hut.

Congratulations Peter, again.  Peter took out his second win in a row, taking him to 3 wins for the season - well done.

There was a small field today so we had a mass start and everyone scored good points.  Conditions were very wet and muddy and no personal best times were recorded.

Good luck to those competing in the Noosa Triathlon tomorrow.

Next week is market weekend so the run is on Sunday 6th November at 7:30am.

Lincoln - 57 seconds
Within 15 seconds - Lucia and Peter

The Eltham Fun Run is coming up on Sunday 6 November with both a 5km and 10km option.  I did the 10km last year which was great - a challenging, hilly course at times.  More information at www.eltham.ymca.org.au.

Next week the run is on Saturday 15 October at 7:00am.

See you down by the hut.

Run 85

Congratulations Amanda. Obviously the shorter distance helped, however this collects its own penalty in the points system. It was good to see everyone at the start line this week with the Grand Final yesterday and daylight savings starting this morning.

It was a little cooler this morning however at least it was drier than yesterday. There were no PBs this week, with only one person within 15secs;

Within 15 seconds - Rob

Next week we will be running on Saturday 8th October at 7:00am.

Congratulations Lucia.  This week saw Lucia continue her cracking start to Season 6 with her second win, on a PB, and securing the maximum 20 points.  Fabulous work.

It was a truly beautiful spring morning which saw 4 personal best times recorded.  This week they were;
Martin - 1 min 28 seconds
Lucia - 12 seconds
Leo - 11 seconds
Lincoln - 2 seconds

(I had to do time adjustments as we had some people start late.)

Run 81

Congratulations Martin!  Well done to Martin in the first run for the season, taking out the win and securing 17 points.

Also, welcome back to Leo - he has obviously improved his fitness during the footy season and broke by over a minute.

It was really warm this morning which I thought might slow people down, but we still saw 1 PB recorded and another 2 within 15 seconds of theirs.  This week's PB's were;
Leo - 30 seconds
Within 15 seconds - Lucia and Reuben.

Happy Father's Day to all the dad's out there and I hope you all enjoy your celebrations today.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 10th September at our new Spring time of 7:00am.  That will be followed by our Season 5 Presentation Breakfast at approx. 7:45am, just after the run.  It would be fantastic if everyone can be there.  Please RSVP to me on wrruners@gmail.com or 0409 619 515.

Congratulations - no, not telling.  I can't disclose the winner of the final run of Season 5 until our presentation breakfast.

Thanks to everyone for sticking it out over the cold, wet winter and we will all welcome some lovely sunny, mild mornings for Season 6.

Run 79

Congratulations Anne Marie!  After a couple of adjustments for different start times, today saw Anne Marie take out her first win for the season, securing 17 points.  Well done.

It was great to see everyone out in the fog and running really well.  A special mention has to go to Jeremy for finishing in such style - he was flying!  We saw 3 personal best times recorded today and 1 other within 15 seconds.  This week's PB's were;
Lucia - 7 seconds
Peter - 6 seconds
Lincoln - 1 second
Within 15 seconds - Martin

Next week's run is special on two fronts.  Firstly, it will be Peter's 50th run with River Runners so that is certainly something to celebrate.  Secondly, it will be a mass start for the last run of the season and people's times will not be revealed until presentation day.

The run next week will be on Saturday 27th August at 7:30am SHARPEveryone will be starting off together at 7:30am so make sure you are on time.

Run 78

Congratulations Lucia!  Today Lucia hit the top of the consistency table by being the first to cross the line after the 30 minute mark, with a personal best time, and therefore securing the maximum 20 points.  Well done.

The battle is really on for top spot this season.  There is now only 4 points separating first and second and only 20 point separating first and third.  With two runs remaining, who will win?  (Go girls)

The cold, crisp conditions were obviously spot on for running good times with 4 PB's recorded and another 3 within 15 seconds of theirs.  This week's PB's:
Martin - 32 seconds
Lucia - 16 seconds
Marianne - 14 seconds
Lincoln - 5 seconds
Within 15 seconds - Amanda, Helen and Jeremy.

Welcome to our new runner, Paula.  I hope you enjoyed yourself and you'll be back to join us again.  Sorry I had to rush off to basketball and didn't get a chance to have a chat after the run.

Next week's run is on Saturday 20th August at 7:30am.

Run 77

Congratulations Lincoln!  Today was Lincoln's turn to cross the line first after the 30 minute mark, with a personal best time, and therefore securing maximum points.  Well done on your second win for the season.

With only 3 runs remaining for the season it is going to be very interesting.  Our top 4 runners have all completed over 10 runs so they must do better than their lowest scoring run for the season to get any more points.  With only 17 points separating our top 3, anyone can take top spot by getting in a win with a PB and securing 20 points.

Today was certainly the day for good running, despite the cold and fog.  We saw 4 breakers, 4 PB's recorded and another 3 were within 15 seconds of theirs.  PB's were;
  • Jeremy - 1 minute 4 seconds
  • Marianne - 53 seconds
  • Lincoln - 5 seconds
  • Reuben - 5 seconds
Within 15 seconds:- Anthony (3km), Lucia, Peter

It was great to see a few kids out there today - they all ran well.

Next week we are back to our regular timeslot.  The run will be on Saturday 13th August at 7:30am.

Run 76

Well it definitely felt like Spring is coming with a beautiful morning down at the hut. Lets put it this way it was a lot warmer and dryer than the past few weeks.

Congratulations this week goes to Marianne!  She is just showing us why she is at the top of the points table even though she did have Lincoln close on her heels. Lucia picked up some valuable points this week with another great run. Just showing the kids how it is done as Jeremy just came in ahead of his big brother. Well done to you both.

There were no personal best times recorded today, however the following were within 15 secs;
Marianne
Lincoln
Lucia

We hope to see Jodi back next week.

Next weeks run will be on Sunday 7 August 2011 at 8:00am.

Run 75

Congratulations Peter!  After a massive sprint to the finish line with Lincoln hot on his heels, Peter managed to cross the line first after the 30 minute mark and secured 17 points.  Well done.

Now we're at the pointy end of the season the people holding the top 3 spots on the ladder have all completed 10 runs.  Only the top 10 runs count towards the consistency points so its harder to get more points added.

There were 2 personal best times recorded today;
Anthony - 59 seconds
Lincoln - 12 seconds

A big thank you to Rob for running the show this morning as I just wasn't able to make it today.  Hopefully I'll be able to make it next week.

Next weeks run will be on Saturday 30 July 2011 at 7:30am.

Congratulations Lucia!  Now that Lucia has got a taste for winning she is unstoppable.  With another PB this week Lucia has taken out her second win in a row and another 20 points.  Well done and keep up the good work.

It was bitterly cold this morning, with the temparature hovering somewhere around 0, so we had an unscheduled mass start to prevent any cases of frost bite!

The personal bests were a family affair this week;
Lucia - 22 seconds
Anthony - 11 seconds
Martin - 7 seconds

Everyone else, you deserve extra points just for turning up.
Next week's run is on Saturday 23 July at 7:30am.

Run 73

Congratulations Lucia!  Another week for the girls with Lucia taking out her first win for the season, with a personal best time, therefore securing the maximum 20 points.  Great running Lucia (was it the husband/wife running combo that did it?).

Things are certainly getting interesting now with the top 3 spots held by the Warrandyte River Runner girls.  Lucia has rocketed into second place, Marianne is on her 9th run - remember only the best 10 runs count - and Cath is still there at third after only 4 runs.

Good luck to all the River Runners competing in Run Melbourne next Sunday.

There were 2 PB's recorded this morning and another 3 people came within 15 seconds of theirs.  PB's this week;
Anthony - 4 minutes 12 seconds (wow!)
Lucia - 22 seconds
Within 15 seconds - John, Martin, Rob.

Congratulations Lincoln!  Today it was Lincoln's turn to take out his first win for the season, with a personal best time, therefore taking out maximum 20 points.  Well done.

After the first 6 runs of the season we have had 6 different winners.  Marianne is holding top spot (unfortuntely just a couple of seconds too fast today) and I think it is time we had a female winner.  Keep up the great running Aunty Mez!  It may even be a husband/wife face off?

This morning we saw 5 personal best times recorded;
Margaret - 22 seconds
David W - 21 seconds
Marianne - 6 seconds

It was great to see everyone out today on what can only be classed as a wet, muddy track.  With the slow track conditions it was excellent to still see 2 people record new PB's and another 2 within 15 seconds of theirs.

This week's PB's;
Margaret - 54 seconds
Steve - 20 seconds
Within 15 seconds - Lucia and Owen.

Another big congratulations to Lincoln and Leo for taking out the Season 4 trophies, with Peter and Alex taking out Runners Up.  Well done to you all.  (See below for Season 4 stats).

Congratulations, Marianne!  Today saw Marianne take out a win after an impromptu mass start - due to less than ideal weather conditions.  Well done Marianne, a great way to start the season with 17 points.

All runners were guarateed of extra points this morning as there were only 3 runners.  A big well done to all of you for making the effort to get out of bed on such a cold, wet day.

Another congratulations to those who competed in the Mother's Day Classic last weekend.  It sounds like everyone had a good run.

Also congratulations to Peter for stepping up from the 3km to the 5km distance - good luck for the season.

Final congratulations to those crazy runners who competed against Puffing Billy last weekend.  A huge effort to run 13.2km uphill.

I hope everyone enjoys their Mother's Day festivities today - I certainly enjoyed my pancakes. :)

Run 61

Congratulations Peter. Peter was the first to cross the line after the 30 minute mark, with a personal best time, therefore taking out the maximum 20 points. Well, almost. Because the consistency ladder only takes into account your best 10 runs for the season, for those who have run 11 times this season, their lowest score drops off.

We saw 4 PB's recorded this week and another 3 came within 15 seconds of theirs.

This week's PB's;

Well done to everyone, welcome to Will, and a very big thank you to Rob for managing the run for me while I was unwell.

I need to say the very biggest congratulations to our Warrandyte River Runners who took part in the massive Marysville to Melbourne event on Sunday 10th April. Rob, Anthony, Reuben and Roger all put in a tremendous effort and covered 150kms running, cycling and paddling, in just over 10 hours.

Next week is the 2nd last run of Season 4 so it will be a MASS START. Everyone will be starting together at 7:00am sharp. So you need to make sure you are on time or you will miss the start of the run.

Next week's run will be on Saturday 16th April 2011 at 7:00am sharp for everyone for a mass start.

See you down by the hut.

Run 58

Congratulations Rob on two fronts. Firstly for winning tonight's run and secondly for running his 50th run. Unfortunately because Rob only ran 3km, which is less than his highest distance for the season (5km) he can only pick up one point. But that's the way it goes.

It was the inaugural week day evening session of Warrandyte River Runners and it was great to see so many people out there running.

We saw 2 new PB's tonight and another 3 people ran within 15 seconds of their PB.
Owen - 42 seconds
Martin - 15 seconds

Within 15 seconds - Steve, Marianne and Rob.

Well run everyone.

Due to this weekend's Warrandyte Festival, the next run will be on Saturday 26th March at 7:00am.

Meghann - 27 seconds
Owen - 25 seconds
Marianne - 17 seconds
David W - 10 seconds

A huge thank you to Peter for doing the time keeping today. It was quite hectic and he handled it beautifully.

Run 54

Congratulations Peter! It seems that a week's rest with a virus can do you the world of good. Peter came out running today and crossed the line first, with a PB, taking out the maximum 20 points. This has rocketed Peter to the top of the leader board.

It was a little wet before the run started but managed to stop for run time. Not sure if that was a good or bad thing because it was still very humid.

We saw 4 people run a PB today and another 4 ran within 15 seconds of theirs.
Lucia - 1 min 54 seconds - fantastic!
Richard - 27 seconds
Luke - 12 seconds
Peter - 3 seconds

Thankfully the river had gone down enough to allow us to run this week, with only a slight track modification to avoid the mud.

We welcomed 2 new runners and 3 returning runners. I hope you enjoyed yourselves and will come again next week!

Run 52 - it's a wash out!

Well, after over 100mm of rain the Yarra River has decided to interrupt the Warrandyte River Runners schedule and cover our running track.

As there is still a lot of the track under water this afternoon I have had to make the call that tomorrow's run is washed out.

So I'll see you next Saturday 12th February at 7:00am.

Run 51

Congratulations Luke! What a finish. Luke obviously pushed himself hard today and managed to be first across the line after the 30 minute mark with a PB so has taken out the maximum 20 points.

Welcome to all the new runners and returning runners - it was a bit of a cold start today! With all the new runners and everyone running well, we saw 7 people break 30 minutes which is very unusual. The handicap system will sort everyone out for next week.

There were 6 PB's run today, 1 equalled PB and 1 within 1 second. Great work.

  • Steve - 2 minutes 30 seconds
  • Hayden - 2 minutes 16 seconds
  • Janette - 1 minute 39 seconds
  • Marianne - 21 seconds
  • Luke - 4 seconds
  • Lincoln - 2 seconds
  • Rob - equalled
  • Peter - within 1 second

Run 50

Congratulations Janette! After all the adjustments had been made it was actually Janette who crossed the line first after the 30 minute mark with a PB so she has taken out the maximum 20 points. Well done.

There have been some wild and weird suggestions for penalties to be imposed on latecomers, but I just ask that you try your best to be there before your start time. I do endeavour to start the clock right on 7am to allow for those that have other Saturday morning committments. There will be no penalties imposed - yet!

There was only 1 PB recorded today.
Janette - 5 seconds
(And Cath was only 2 seconds outside hers)
Let's hear it for the girls!

A big welcome to our new 2km runners - Brodie and Nyree. I think Brodie is our youngest recorded 2km finisher.

Next week's run is on Saturday 29th January 2011 at 7:00am.

See you down by the hut.

Run 49

Congratulations Leo! Leo was first across the line after the 30 minute mark, with a PB, so has taken out the maximum 20 points on his first run for the season. Alex was on fire again today but he had just a little too much fire in his belly and broke by a couple of minutes!

There was a fantastic turn out at Warrandyte River Runners on a beautifully mild summer's morning. We saw 3 new PB's run and 4 people came within 15 seconds of their PB.

PB's:
Leo - 55 seconds
Alex - 25 seconds
Luke - 14 seconds

A big thank you to the generosity of all today's River Runners. We managed to raise $103.60 for the Queensland Flood Relief fund. Great idea, Nyree.

One last thank you to Reuben and Anne Marie for our beautifully wrapped 1st birthday present - enjoyed by all.

Next week's run will be on Saturday 22nd January 2011 at 7:00am.

See you down by the hut.

Run 48

Congratulations Alex! On a very warm morning for first run of the year it was Alex who took out first place starting him on the ladder with 17 points.

It was a beautiful morning to enjoy our presentation breakfast but a little warm for running. This was also demonstrated by the fact that no one recorded a PB today.

Welcome to Marianne as a runner - we have seen Marianne regularly as a walker and it is great to see you join in the running. Also congratulations Cath for stepping up to the new 4km distance - well run on a warm morning and keep up the good work.

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone for coming along to the presentation breakfast. It was a great morning and I hope you all enjoyed the breakfast format. Congratulations to Peter for taking out the overall trophy by the skin of his teeth. It was a painfully close result bewtween Peter and Lincoln. And congratulations to Owen for taking out the kids trophy, just in front of Bianca.

You will see below that I have shown all the dates for Season 4, and presentation day will be held two weekends after the end of the season.

It was decided at breakfast this morning that we will revert to the 7:00am start time for the Summer season which will hopefully be a little cooler and allow people time to get to their other Saturday activities, 7:30am on market weekend Sundays (1st Sunday of the month).

So next week's run will be at 7:00am on Saturday 15th January 2011.

I hope you can make it and I'll see you down by the hut.
