Run 266

It was another great turnout this week, with 17 people showing up to run or walk along the river and Atsuko (and her new puppy Amy) came along to keep the times this week.

Monica took off like a rocket this morning, blitzing the course and breaking the 30 minute mark by more than a minute. Cam continued his walking of the 3km course and also managed to come in just under the 30 minute mark once his time had been adjusted.

That left Steve able to take out the win for this week with a very well timed run, but Tessa, Jozica and Nada were hot on his heels. Bec and Stephanie continue to improve on their times as well. There was another sprint finish to the end contested between Stewart and Caitlin, with Stewart just managing to make it home first.

It seemed like a great morning for a run, and there were 6 Personal Best times recorded:
Tessa beat her previous best by 11 seconds,
Bec and Stephanie beat theirs by 51 seconds,
Owen K returned for a 2km run and beat his previous best by 1 minute and 7 seconds,
Cam beat last week's walk by 1 minute and 10 seconds, and
Monica beat her previous best by an amazing 1 minute and 33 seconds.

Jozica was also within 15 seconds of her PB.

Next week is a market weekend so we will be running on Sunday 7 June at 7:30am. We realise it is also the long weekend so there may not be as many runners and walkers there and points may be easier to pick up.

New runners and walkers are welcome at any stage through the season.

Socks this week went to Caitlin.

Run 265

It was an enormous turnout for this week's run. We had a total of 18 runners and walkers, which is the most we have had in a single week for a long time. Monica did an amazing job of keeping people on track at the start line and taking their times at the end of the run.

With so many people running, it turned out to be quite a close finish. No-one could catch up to Trudy, who stormed home well before the 30 minute mark. It looks like she has been working out down near Port Fairy and is running very well. We hope she can find some time soon to come back and run again.

Pete tried valiantly to catch up to her, overtaking many runners after the final turn-around, but eventually managed to come in 2nd place behind Steve who had to run early and timed his run very well. Jozica, Paul and Tessa all managed to come in within about 15 seconds of each other.

There was one Personal Best:
Trudy beat her previous PB by an amazing 1 minute 40 seconds.

And 3 runners managed to get within 15 seconds of their PB:
Peter, Jozica and Tessa.

Well done to all runners this week. We hope to see you back again soon.

After the run, we presented the awards for Season 16. With a small field for the season, the places were all up for grabs. Monica had the best average for the season, scoring 13.2 points points per run. Caitlin picked up the kids award and took home the trophy for that section again.

In the adults section, it was a tough run to the finish line and Peter managed to come in second place for the season with a total of 93 points from his best ten runs. But the winner of the season was Jozica with a total of 123 points from her best ten runs, which included 4 wins. A fabulous effort and congratulations go to Joz.

Our next run will be on Saturday 30 May at 7:30 am and we look forward to seeing another big field of runners.

New runners and walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Cheers,

Paul

Run 264

It was a fabulous morning for a run and it was great to see another big turnout with 12 runners this morning.

We welcomed 3 newcomers this week: Bec and Stephanie who happened to be running past and saw us so decided to join in and run 3km with us, and Andrew who ran 2km. We hope to see you back again.

There was a little confusion over some starting times, so after adjustments have been made the stand out results are:

Atsuko came in under the magical 30 minute mark, beating her previous PB by 18 seconds,
Jozica continues to time her runs beautifully, coming in first and beating her previous PB by 24 seconds,
Tessa came in fourth beating her PB by 5 seconds.

It was a tight finish with lots of runners coming in, and we thank Monica for coming down and doing the timing.  For this season, we have decided to allocate 1 point to anyone who does the timing but is not running that week.

We look forward to seeing lots of runners and/or walkers again next week. The run is on Saturday 23 May at 7:30am.

New runners and walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Remember, if we have ten or more runners/walkers in a week we will do a random draw for a pair of socks. This week the socks go to Nada. Congratulations.

Paul

Run 263

Hi again,

another great turnout this week - we had 13 people running!

Another new runner started this week - welcome Stuart! A great introduction to River Runners with a very good 4km time.

Monica continues to blitz the times, with a break this week, leaving first position to Jozica, closely followed by Steve, Peter and Atsuko with Nada not far behind.

It was great to see Tessa back again running the 3km course and also good to have Olie and his boys back as well.

There were two PBs this week:
Jozica by 7 seconds and
Monica by a huge 1 minute 27 seconds!

Great effort guys.

Paul

Socks this week went to Steve.

Run 262

It was a great start to a new season this morning with 11 people arriving at the starting line by 7:30. We welcomed three new runners: Cam, Jacinta and Tessa, and hope to see them become regulars in our weekly runs. We also announced the fact that Jozica has taken out season 16 with a win in the last run. Full details will be announced when we have our presentation in a few weeks time.

Monica was the person to beat today as she blitzed the course, coming in just one second over that magical 30 minute mark. Atsuko and Peter were very close behind. The new runners ran consistently, but Cam forgot where the 2 km turnaround was and kept running - I have adjusted his time to indicate roughly where he was at the 5 km mark (I hope).

Barbara and Caitlin showed up as we were crossing the finish line, unfortunately they hadn't seen the change of times for this season. Please remember that ALL winter runs will be at 7:30am on both Saturdays and Sundays.

There was one PB this week:
Monica beat her previous best by 25 seconds - well done!

And there was one person within 15 seconds of there PB:
Atsuko - running well.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 9 May at 7:30am.

New runners and walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

With 11 competitors this morning we had a draw for the socks - the winner was Paul.
