Run 752

It was a lovely morning to run along the banks of the Birrarung-Yarra through Warrandyte before the temperature heats up for what looks to be a very hot week. Many thanks to Nada for coming along to handle the timekeeping duties for the five starters.

Two runners took on the shorter, non-handicapped 2 km distance this week. Well done to Paul and Dave. In the longer distances, James was the first runner home after the 30 minute mark, earning him the win. Stephen followed in second place, with Atsuko rounding out the field.

One personal best time was recorded this week. Well run to James, who took the win and earned the maximum 20 points for this run. Nobody else finished within 15 seconds of their PB.

After the run, we held several presentations. The winner of last season was announced as Paul, who scored 84 points from 11 runs during Season 48. Second place went to Nada, who overtook Atsuko in the final run of the season to finish with 78 points from 14 runs.

We also presented Nada with a prize for completing 500 runs with the group. What an amazing achievement! She was presented with a cap embroidered with “WRR 500”. Photos are available on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/WarrandyteRiverRunners.

The next run will be on Saturday 31 January, with the timer starting at 7:30 am.

New runners and walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 750

It was perfect running weather this week, with a cool and calm morning following a run of very hot days that led to fires across Victoria on Friday. Our thoughts are with everyone who was affected. Many thanks to James for running early and then taking on the timekeeping duties.

Five runners toed the line this week, all running off their handicaps and finishing very close together. Sandi was the first runner over the line, finishing just ten seconds ahead of Stephen. Dave followed only seconds later in third place, with Atsuko and Nada the final runners home.

The next run will be on Saturday 17 January, with the timer starting at 7:30 am.

New runners and walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 749

There were eight starters in the run along the banks of the Birrarung-Yarra through Warrandyte this week. Many thanks to James for running early and taking on the timekeeping duties.

Two people took on the shorter, non-handicapped 2 km distance this week. Well run to Paul and Margaret. In the longer distances, Sandi was the first person over the line but finished before the 30 minute mark and was therefore designated as a breaker. This left the win open to Stephen, who finished just four seconds ahead of Monica. Nada took out third place, with James and Jozica the final runners to finish.

One personal best time was recorded this week. Congratulations to Sandi for taking 45 seconds off her previous PB. Nobody else finished within 15 seconds of their personal best, so no additional points were awarded.

The next run will be on Saturday 10 January with the timer starting at 7:30 am.

New runners and walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.
