Run 711

It was a muggy morning for our nine starters in the run along the banks of the Birrarung-Yarra through Warrandyte this week. Thanks to Colin for coming along to do the time-keeping duties this week.

Jon was the first runner over the line this morning and came in at exactly 30 minutes as the winner this week. He was closely followed by Dave, with Margaret in third place. Atsuko took out fourth place ahead of Monica and Nada was in sixth place only 5 seconds behind her. Paul took out seventh place and the last runners over the line were Harrison and Jozica.

Three runners managed to run a personal best time today. Congratulations to Dave for taking another 2 seconds off his previous best, Jon who took 30 seconds off his previous PB and Monica who ran 33 faster than her previous best time. Nobody else was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Next week is the first Sunday of the month, so we will be running on Sunday morning 6 April with the timer starting at 7:30 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 710

It was a cooler morning today with the temperature around 9 degrees at the start of the run along the banks of the Birrarung-Yarra this week. Thanks again to Nada for running early and doing the time-keeping duties this week. It was great to see Jozica back running this morning.

Margaret continue to improve her times each week, coming in this week before the 30 minute mark and therefore being classed as a breaker. That left the win open to Jon in a beautifully-timed run today, but he was only seconds ahead of Atsuko and Dave in second and third place. James and Adrienne were in fourth and fifth place within four seconds of each other. Nada came in sixth place today, with Sandi in seventh. Paul and Jozica were the last runners over the line today.

With ten runners in today's field, we were once again able to have a random number draw for a pair of socks. Today's number was 10, meaning that Jozica wins the socks this week.

Three people beat their personal best times this week. Well done to Margaret who took a massive 2 minutes and 7 seconds off her previous PB - great running! Jon took 26 seconds off his previous PB and Dave took another 6 seconds off his best time. One runner also equalled their PB: Congratulations Atsuko.

Next week is the Warrandyte Festival on Saturday, so we will move the run to be on Sunday 30 March with the timer starting at 7:30 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 709

It was a beautiful morning for a run along the banks of the Birrarung-Yarra through Warrandyte this morning before the predicted heat of today. Thanks to Jozica and Colin for coming along this morning to do the timekeeping duties this week.

After the handicaps were added on to some of the runs and start times adjusted according to the time sheet the results this week had Jon come over the line in first place in a beautifully timed run, finishing just two seconds after the 30 minute mark. It was a real tussle for second place with Dave coming in just one second before Atsuko, but as she had left the start line a second later than her handicap this has resulted in a draw for second place! Margaret came in fourth place this week ahead of Nada in fifth position. Tony was only 15 seconds back in sixth. James ran well into seventh position and Sandi took out eighth. Paul was the last runner over the line this week.

There was a random number draw with the number chosen being 6, meaning our sixth place runner, Tony, wins himself a new pair of socks. Congratulations.

There were four personal best times recorded this week, with Atsuko taking 15 seconds off her previous PB, Dave reducing his by 23 seconds, Jon taking 28 seconds off his previous best and Margaret taking 1 minute and 9 seconds off her PB recorded last week.

After the run we announced that this week was Jon's 300th run with the group - Congratulations on reaching this milestone, Jon.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 22 March with the timer starting at 7:30 am.

Some advance notice that the run the following week will be moved to the Sunday after the Warrandyte Festival. We will run on Sunday 30 March starting at the usual time of 7:30 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Run 708

It was a lovely morning for the run along the banks of the Birrarung-Yarra through Warrandyte. Many thanks to Nada for running early and doing the time-keeping duties again this week for the six starters.

There was only one person, Paul, who took on the shortest, unhandicapped distance this week. In the longer distances, the first person over the line once the handicaps were allocated was Dave, but he had run too quickly, coming in before the 30 minute mark and therefore breaking this week. That left the win open to Nada, who came in ahead of Atsuko. Sandi took out third place with Margaret the last runner over the line this morning.

One runner managed to beat their previous personal best time for their chosen distance: great running Dave to take another 10 seconds off your PB. Nobody else was within 15 seconds of their PB.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 15 March with the timer starting at 7:30 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.

Runs 706 and 707

There have been smaller numbers attending the runs over the past couple of weeks, so there has been the opportunity to pick up some bigger points for those competing.

Run 706

With only three people running this week, there was the opportunity to grab a high number of points for the run.

Atsuko was the first runner over the line once the handicaps were added on to run times. She was only eight seconds ahead of Tony in second place, with Dave in third position this week.

Two runners were within 15 seconds of their PBs for their chosen distances this week: Congratulations to Atsuko and Dave an some very good running.

Run 707

With only two runners starting this morning (most likely due to the concurrent start of Run Warrandyte this weekend), they chose to start from scratch and have their handicaps added on later.

Congratulations to Tony for taking out the win this week, just 3 seconds ahead of Nada.

Neither runner managed to be within 15 seconds of their PB this week.

Next week the run will be on Saturday 8 March with the timer starting at 7:30 am.

New runners and/or walkers are welcome at any stage during the season.
